Title: E10
Post by: JezWest on September 01, 2021, 07:27:08 am
The UK has moved to E10 for regular unleaded fuel. Any pointers on things in the fuel system which might not be compatible?

I have stock tank and tunnel line. Everything else is new: Webcon fuel pump, Aeroquip hoses and fittings, Holley regulator/splitter and Dellorto DRLA carbs.

I read that the fuel shouldn't sit for long periods as it 'goes off'. I only cover 1000 miles a year so maybe I should drive more (!) or use a fuel stabiliser or half fill the tank rather than completely filling.

Cheers for your advice.

Use super unleaded, no issues with the smaller amount of ethanol

And carry a bottle of Milllers VPSe additive with you just in case you can't find a source of Super unleaded out on the road...

E10 For info only, consumption is 3% more
But need to get up in the jets
What could be the problem are hoses
I have not yet heard of anything that can be poured in that removes the alcohol in the fuel
If you want to be safe when buying pumps, they must only be approved for among fuels
Som E85

My thoughts on E10, al least what we get in the US, is this stuff is formulated to evaporate. If I leave my bug sitting for a week the carbs are basically dry, just a bit left in the accelerator pumps. The old gas seemed to be formulated to not evaporate and that is where the fuel would sit so long in the float bowl that it would start to get sticky and like a varnish. From that standpoint, it is actually better.

Yes it will vapor lock easier, another reason to switch to an electric pump. I sometimes need to go up just a bit in jet size to compensate for the alcohol.
