Title: Door Hinges Pip Pin quick release
Post by: samotorsport on November 24, 2021, 16:01:53 pm
Hey gents , i plan in putting a quick release system into the door hinges of my dragster.
The original pins are conic , so a M8 x 65 falls straight through and does not guide the door very precise.
I wonder what you did , bushing into it and reamed to 8 mm ? Or any other kind of pin or bolt used ?
Please share your experience and maybe some pics and a place to order the pins .
Thanks in advance
Sam

Good topic!  I am close to doing this to my CF doors installment.
Would be nice to get some idea inspirational pictures.

hi
you can use a quick release pin size 21/64 = 8,33 mm or the 11/32 = 8,73 mm best way to do

Here's what I did on my cars: cut the stock lower hinge but leave the stock hinge pin in place. You can then slide the door onto this pin and then simply use a pit pin (quick release pin) on the top hinge. It makes it very easy to refit the door by yourself...

Thanks a lot .
So here is what I did . Not the quickest way but very precise , and quick enough for my needs .
Upper and middle part drilled to 10 mm, lower hinge tapped to M10 .
So you slide the door in place , keep it there with the bolts in and lock it by screwing it down .
For the moment standard allen key M10x60 installed .
Gonna swap them to dome head bolts on final assembly
