The Cal-look Lounge

I have been following the "lounge t-shirt thread" and just realized that if they are made it will be one of those shirts which I will probably never get rid of.  ;D

So what is your favorite vw t-shirt? Why is it your favorite? How long have you had it? Does anyone want you to get rid of it? etc

My favorite shirt is from bugorama #50. On the back it has a picture of the bergs black sedan pulling a wheelie and a stock, split window, ragtop beetle. It is not worn out, does not have holes and is very comfortable. I wear it often and will continue to do so. ;D

I've got a really cool Original DDS t shirt but it just hangs in my room cos its MASSIVE ( you dam yanks ;))

My favourite t shirt to wear has to be my EBI1 (white) or my Black Ultra VW one  given to me by the guys at Camberg now that was a funny night - Snowballs anyone ;) :)

   I must have over 200+ T Shirts put away for the last 20 years I forgot which one I have. The one I remember best not in favorite order.

worn collar area and of course my fravorite is my KRE t-shirts....still got one or two new....just need

Yep - Candy (Corsini) Larsen & myself Susy (Gifford) Herbert joined DVB in 1977.  I was President of DVB in the 80's. I remember you from the rallies, shows & etc.  I am still around after all those years (30 years to be exact). Been there - done that, and have had a great time doing it all! I would not trade any of all the good times and all the great people I have met, and become friends with for any amount of money$$!

Hi Susy I Left DVB in 1976 with a Few Other Members and Started DSK Most Of the DSK Members were more toward the Glendora,Pomona,Chino Hills Area we Had A Few coming from Orange County But We always Put On The Rally's in Orange County  Those Were the Good Old Days  LOL I even made the Cover of the first VW Trends with DVB  Lots of Great People and Good Times. To Bad times Change it is not like it Once was  But if you Didnt live it you will never know it as it was.

Times have changed, and I wish all the newer people that are into VW's or going to be, could have expierienced what we did. (BUG-IN'S @ OCIR - Drag Days - Rallies at least once a month-if not more - Crazy Caravans - Huge Picnic's  -etc....) Good Times & Great People.  But I know the clubs now will make their own memories, and in 30 years will talk about it also!

I was going to say that! I've got a couple of Outlaw shirts and a hoody, and I wear them at every VW event I go to. It's a group I'm proud to be part of, and I want to display that.

Sorry I'm late with this...here are some shirts done for various VW Classics over the years.  These were drawn by John Rayburn.

As mentioned, John does a lot of the club's tee shirt work.  One year, Mike Gagen took it upon himself to change all that and enlisted Mike Lawless to design a shirt for us...it turned into a messy deal as he never bothered to let any of the rest of us know what he was up to.

One of my all-time faves!  From our navigation rally a few years ago...nice job by John Rayburn  8)

The design for this shirt was done many years ago by Jeff Aronson (Greg's brother).  Art Alvarez (DKP I) and I re-poped it for club use in 2001 and Ron and Greg (FAT) have recently re-poped it as a Fat Performance shirt.  Good stuff here.

Last, but not least, is our club logo the way it was back in the day...

Very nice collection. You must dry clean them to keep them looking so good,...or you hardly wear them.

I love the white one with the maroon lettering.  Clean and simple, like the cars we enjoy.

Seconded, it's simple and effective.

Sorry.  No I believe they are size large and have been worn a lot.  I finally had to quit wearing them and put them away so they wouldn't get totally worn out.

I had a Flyin' Tomato shirt but I lost it during a Drag Day weekend! Dammit!

Did you know that there were two versions?  One had the gasburners and the other one had D-spokes.  I believe I have one of each.

Here's another one.  The design isn't that cool, but what it represents to me is very cool!

Well I still have an original DKK shirt and jacket... neither of which I could even think of fitting into anymore.

Any of the DKP shirts that John does are killer. He keeps knocking out one good design after another.

Funny I had forgot the shirt had different rims, made me go look at my 2 remaining work shirts, surprise one of each.
Sorry only made fifty of each and they disappeared years ago.
Back in 87 if you won your show class at the Jamboree Al sent you a Members only embroidered jacket.
Tickled Pink was the car.

Back in the first Cal Look Forum days I had offered to fulfill a couple internet requests for signed shirts.
This was an extra from the Classic DKP reunion.
First time in years I have looked at it, like guest book of some of the guys that were there that day.
There was blue and red reunion hats too.
All the DKP club swag helps support more swag and more beer and pizza.

That's all my VW apparel.
When Steve Hole put my bug with Clyde's on the event shirt I had to get a spare. ;)

6 years ago or so Doug Mische's 10 year old nephew wearing his original DKP2 shirt around the Classic, that lead to a surprise confrontation between the kid and a rather over Zealous DKP1 member.
Yes Sarge scratched the surface of the messy DKP art debates and (common to any club) intense inner politics.
Years ago at the end of the Classic the entire contents of the DKP T shirt cash box disappeared?
There was concern, how would the club afford T shits for the following Classic?
But that is all outweighed by the chance encounters with another car buff when you happen to be wearing your car shirt on vacation or at the local hardware store.
 

Do they actually make t-shirts long enough in the midsection to fit you?  I've worn out my 3 flyin tomato shirts, and gave another to Zach in trade for a Classic staff t shirt.  What was a real eye opener, was watching one of my father in law's farm workers cry when I gave him an old yellowed and nearly tattered Flyin' T shirt.  I swear he wore it for a week straight, with a shit eating grin the whole time.

Yeah talking about that one ton tomato, ketchup if you can. :D

I loved that car - I can remember taking the then latest issue of Hot VWs with it featured in on my two week vacation to Spain and reading it over and over again and checking the pictures out in detail. When the car showed up in the UK at a show at Santa Pod Raceway I was all over it like a rash. It's still in France.
On the subject of that issue of Hot VWs I recall there was a green Ghia on the cover, maybe with color matched bumpers, but then with my addled brain - I could be wrong, it was about 1986 or '87 at a guess.
