The Cal-look Lounge

I have just managed to get my hands on this tape from 1984, I am going to convert it to DVD.  Is anybody interested in having a copy?  The cost will be minimal and will cover the cost of the media and the postage.

He Lids, maybe you can ship several discs together to make it easier on you... for instance, DKK Fred, Bill, Worm, Art and I (maybe others) live close enough that, if they are willing, you could just ship to one of us and we can get them to the others.

I can do that, not a problem.

I am going to put them either in a plastic wallet, with DVD cover inserts.  This will reduce shipping costs.  Or just put them into a DVD case (like console games), with cover already inserted.  What do people prefer?

Okay, the tape arrived today (Thanks Gary).

My mate will put it onto DVD for me next week, once that's done, I can then start running off copies.  Can people please go back and edit their posts and state if they want NTSC or PAL.  Don't add a new reply, it will get really difficult to keep track, I will edit my list of names and put either NTSC or PAL as a tag.

I will then give everybody the final cost, this is a non-profit making deal, and will only be done once.

I still have space for 2 more people.

And here is the DVD cover:

NTSC is the american TV system, PAL is the UK/European system

okay, i still need people to edit their posts and tell me PAL or NTSC.

The cost is coming in at $9.50 each including worldwide postage.

This includes a DVD, copy of DVD cover on Salmon pink paper!, a plastic wallet, envelope and shipping.

PayPal is easiest for me, as it will convert it from any currency, and is less chance it goes missing.

These will not be able to be tracked.

I am waiting to get the master back this weekend and then I can start burning them and will send them out with paypal confirmation the following week.

yes, the NTSC i.e. American version will be posted out next week to all those people who have paid, once i have done this then i will sort out the Pal version.  Hopefully by next weekend.  Its taken a lot longer than i thought.  Something to do with audio sync problems!  Keep an eye on the list and i will print posted next to your name.

How long does it take to put a DVD in a jiffy bag, the envelopes could have been written and stamped up weeks ago  ???

Envelopes were done ages ago, I'll post yours if you want.  Just thought you would like it in your hand.  Its taken longer then I thought to get it transferred from Video to DVD.  It was encrypted with Macrovision which had to be negated, plus there are few dodgy tracking issues.  It then had to be converted into both PAL and NTSC.  This has not been easy, and to be honest, if people hadn't paid I would have stopped trying.  This was done for no profit, in fact I am down as people who said they wanted a copy didn't pay.

What do you mean exactly, there are a couple of moments when it jumps about a second or so, but this was due to the tape, so we decided to cut out some of the really bad tracking loss.  I have tried it on my PC, my DVD player and a friends with no problems.  I have spoken to some others and if they are using a no brand DVD player it sometimes causes a problem, but they then put it on another DVD player and it was fine.

If you watch it all the way through you will notice one other time where the tracking goes, but we missed this one.

I'll try it on my PC and let you know.  :)

It's funny how it seems like the hobby itself hasn't changed that much (until you really examine details like engine technology, parts now available, etc., and overall styles like paint schemes), but the people's fashions sure have. ;D  Oh, man, the white male afros are hilarious in this video....It's cool to see what OCIR was like back in the day, too.
