got about 3 weekends worth of work done on the car so far this year.....working too much at the moment, 7 days a week, big wedding coming up in August also which has taken a chunk of cash!
certainly cant spare the time to attend Bug-in which is a shame.. :(

however, the upside is.... after august i'm gonna give myself about 4 months holiday....i have my floorpan booked in for a special top secret treatment which should look wild, the engine is getting built in december so maybe by spring 2008 i'll be on the road.

hello men!
yeah lids...that busy, i've been doing 15 hour workdays for the last couple of weeks to get the property finished before the wedding, one of my contractors cut into the mains electricity cable yesterday....he's still in hospital!  and no electrics!
so its all a bit hectic!!

hey Ape! hows the leg?
....the 4 (or more!) months  off are because i have 2 properties on the go, to be finished by mid august...when they're done i cant afford to do anymore 'till they're sold & that could take a while....

so thats gonna be full on car time!!!

and Mauro....glad you like it ...your cars rule dude!

lots of love and kisses...jick

managed to visit the workshop this week and get a bunch more stuff done on the 'pan......gearbox and rear suspension etc all in now and have set a date at the end of the month to transport the body to the new workshop ...so that can be bolted straight down on the new floor.
also i dropped off my spindle mounts, discs & calipers over to Wayne at the Intergalactic hotrod shop which is really near to where my car is so he can get them all fitting & working etc which is not gonna be easy at all.....but exciting nonetheless.     well, for me at least. ;)

also it was the first time ever that i've seen it outside in the sunlight since i painted it.  i'm really happy with it.  never going to win any prizes for best paint, but that wasn't my intention.

new carpet and headlining from Pete at Bromsgrove Auto Trim.....im lucky to have this guy just 5 minutes down the road.

probably one of  the nicest dudes I've met on this scene over the last 20years or so, and he  does what he says, when he says....which is a quite something!

if you need any trimming in the Midlands area I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

thanks Stretch!

I've just flaked the Berg Traction bar, my favourite paint at the moment is the House Of Kolors pale gold mini flake basecoat, I tint it with HOK Kandy Koncentrates

that way you have the green (or whatever) colour, but in the sunlight there's a real gold sheen to it....(you can see the effect better on my Mustang roof in the Off-Topic section.)

What linkage do you plan on using

Title: Re: jicks looooong-ass project......
Post by: jick on December 05, 2014, 20:49:32 pm
I have a "Tayco" style linkage with the plain round cross-bar, I think a Bugpack version?  as you can imagine I purchased it a long time ago!

I've painted it black and the accelerator cable arm and the end linkages are gold plated...haha!  it only cost about £30.....

I need to make up some carb/crossbar mounting brackets as it wont fit as it is.....

That looks the dogs bollocks. Where did you get the IDA stacks ?

Title: Re: jicks looooong-ass project......
Post by: jick on December 06, 2014, 00:52:48 am
The IDA stacks?  Hmmm.... Well I remember they fitted badly and needed some careful sanding down of the "flange"

I'm pretty sure they were the cheap-ass thin new Empi versions ..... I convinced myself this was a good idea because they weigh nothing!

I had them gold anodised....

Thanks dude....I'm interested to see how you improve your car....I was always massively impressed by it!

I think there's a LOT more room for creativity in this scene..... I Think it's a big reason that things seem to be quietening down around here...

Hi Jick,
do you have a detail photo of those stacks in combination with the mounts for the taico linkage?  I Always thought that the cheapo empi stacks looked cool, certainly for the price.  What's the downside?

I didn't think you could make them fit in combination with a taico linkage because the mounts clamps around the front stacks...

Thx,

Dem

Wow.... Thanks guys!

2015 is looking like it's going to be a fun year!

Matt, once again, massive thanks!  I've just had the car totally rewired, gotta collect it on Saturday then just down to our friend Wayne at Intergalactic to get the engine in & set up...... I'll be in touch!

Mr Wolfwest.......sorry, no detail shots as yet I'm afraid , the stacks are super flimsy and I needed to  spend quite some time finely sanding back the bottom part where they slip into the carb, not too complicated I suppose....
I have a weird Berg prototype oil breather ( so I'm told?) which interferes with the linkage anyway,  so I need to fab up some new carb mounted brackets to make it all work......

And Mr Dannyboy.... Thanks man! Yeah , they're the Radirs,  I adore them, but if I'd have known the  stress and bother of getting them to work on a street car I wouldn't have even thought about it..... ( actually that's a lie, I would have, but they've been a struggle!)

Thanks all for the kind words etc..... It's a real boost!

Jick

this car is on another level!! it just keeps getting better, those inner arches are insane
its good to see something totally different being done

will it be finished for volksworld this year?

Title: Re: jicks looooong-ass project......

Thanks men!

Tom, Volksworld was my goal, but I've got quite a lot going on at the moment... And I've just had a fairly expensive month... More of that another time!
So whilst I could probably thrash & get the car ready I just don't think I can spare the time to be at the show for even a day this year, let alone a whole long weekend... :(
I'm in no rush...... :D

Stay tuned into    "in da werks"    More car news etc on its way!
