Title: Old club flyers
Post by: Stephan S on January 14, 2009, 22:15:35 pm
Digging through old pictures, I found this...
Sorry, the picture is pretty small.

Top: DKP VW Drags @ Carlsbad (1968); Der Renwagen Fuhrers "Roll Another One" rally (Dave Rhoads might remember the year); Newport Beach VW Association "Competition-Hill" rally (1971); Der Volkswaffe "Take Another Hit" rally.

Bottom: Der Volks Bruckenaufbau "Blame it on the Navigator" rally (I read "1983" - is that possible?); 2 x Der Kleiner Kampfwagens  rallies (1983); DGVA "Just Like Old times".

That would be Mark Ito's brother... Vince Ito. He and his brother, Mark, were fixtures in D.K.K. Vince always did killer artwork for our club. Super cool guys, those Ito brothers. I miss hangin' out with them both.

Mark and Vince Ito's father was an animator for Disney. At the time one of the only people that could legally draw Micky Mouse. He had an incredible collection of Disney Memorabilia. They had a room in their home that had nothing but Disney stuff in it. It was amazing.

I think Stef made the top one and Deano made the one with Schwimmer's car.

I actually made it to Drag Day III.  That was the first time I took my car down the strip.  Drove over from Phoenix to run just for fun and drove home afterward.  I still have my time slip with the worlds slowest reaction time.  Is it really green........?

Here's an oldie from back in the day.... Looks like we're just moving into our new "digs" at the Pickwick.  I'm thinking Janet ran the mimeograph machine at Anaheim High School.  Craig 8 track anyone?? ::) ;D
