Title: Dutch scene?
Post by: LuftsickTero on December 14, 2006, 10:53:21 am
How is the Volkswagen scene in Netherlands? I have been to VW Euro in 2000, seen some event pictures like Budel, visited Ploon's side for many years etc, but otherwise I have no idea how things are in real..

Are there good shops? Engine builders? Meetings?

Could some of you guys registered in here shed some light?

How come the interest in the dutch scene  ;)  there's only a few of us on here, JeePee;

Jordy, still building his cal-look 67 (model 68), and Dokke (DFL) when he was on TV with a few other resto-cals and german-lookers on the background to get an idea of the scene here;

and i guess two or three that don't post that often and probably a few i don't know.

I try making it to Budel every year, it's big but the thing that bothers me is that there are lots and lots of standard VWs driving around. And i'm not that much into that. Cal-look scene on the Budel show are mostly German and Belgian cars. Only a few dutch ones. Resto-cal is a lot bigger here.

We have a few shops selling parts for, in my humble opinion, ridiculous prices. That's why i'll be ordering most of my parts for my engine project from the US. And again, German look and T4 engines are more popular to build for them.

I know that JeePee has had his engine built professionally and as far as I've read he's very satisfied with the result. Then this other guy that went to DDD3 and DD4 that you described as Resto-cal - yes he used to run towel rails, but he even raised the rear and runs smart tyres to get max nose down stance:
had his 2110 professionally built, don't know where, but it looks and sounds phenomenal!

Then, there are no cal-look meetings yet, that will need to change  ;D  And meetings i attend are either the big events or so-called aircooled cruise nights and all of the guys i know there are into slamming and narrowing, nice rides though, but when i bought my 67 it was slammed and i drives like shit with all the speed bumps in holland.
Well, this probably also the reason why Dokke has joined a German club, and the others have no club. Perhaps we need to get in touch with the Belgians and join their clubs  ;)  i wouldn't mind they have some nice rides. Just let us know if you're up for that  ;)

So, i suppose the general conclusion here is that we are undervalued  ;D perhaps some of the other dutchies can leave a comment as well. But feel free to ask or say if i missed anything.

the unattractiveness of this thread resembles the solitude and loneliness of a devotee in the dutch cal-look scene  :'(

Obviously trying to make them ride like a more familiar form of transport, the bicycle, only with crap steering, and without the stability. :P

Hey Mat, when it comes to narrow beams you Brits are way ahead of rest of the world.. It doesn't get any narrower than this one :P ;D

Good old Reliant "resto cal" Robin.  :D

I personally like the look of a narrowed beam on a cal look car, nothing excessive, but enough to get the tyre away from the wing. Helps the stance no end as well. ;)

Seeing that particular modern design masterpiece it occurred to me how long before we see a Resto-Cal with fender skirts on the front?  :P

Narrowed beams are for dorks!   ;D

Narrowed beams are for dorks!   ;D

Extreme 5" narrowed jobs I agree, they look very bizarre and when moving down the road make a Bug look like Hovercraft, but a few inches out and a little bit of wheel tuck, looks prety damn good in my book.

Back on topic... this is a cool car...

True Sander, that guy has a nice oldspeed engine! Are you gonna raise the back of your car any time soon btw? And are you going to KWF on 6-01-07?

I'm very desperate Mat  ;)  Constantly have to surf the forums abroad to find the rides that tickle my fancy  ;D  But i don't mind! Great people on here.

The blue 64 is very nice, he redid the front end after hitting the back of another car in the rain.
It sports a 2" narrowed beam, with CB brakes and a 2180cc engine. With a nice TMI interior etc.
I think JeePee is on here too. How can we check to get him to respond? Will you do that Sander?

Cheers!

He, you forget mine, ;)

Its a mexican body on a 1973 chassis with the features of a 68-72 beetle.
I stole the color of SOB callook beetle(member here) Fjord bleu, sorry sven!!!!!
It is a body off restoration which took place in 2003/2004.
At this moment it has de wrong wheels and engine.
I am building a engine for it (2.0 typ 4 upright conversion(cali style) with kadron carbs)
And when the cash is there fuchs or gasburners are comming.

Kind regards Eddie

Hey Eddie, you find the way to the lounge also?! :D
Nice beetle you have there, only I think that a type4 engine is a big no no for a real callooker :P

I know, but it is going to look like a type 1 engine(cali conversion).

Wait and see, and then tell me if you don t like it...I hope it is ready in the summer of 2007..

Kind regards Eddie

PS SOB (big member here) also drives a typ4 upright engine in his car.

exactly!

i've only met dokke once, though he's on here too! dutch msg to dokke: hey gozer, als je weer op kwf bent laat ff van je horen!
saw his bug at the very first meeting i attended in may 2004, wasn't into cal-look back then, only looking around. then again first meeting i attended with my beetle - heavily lowered back then - later that year i suddenly really liked the look so much! even though i had never seen such dull rims, though i think differently of it now  ;)  really suits the style... how much can opinions change?  ;D i always have that with girls as well, though i won't elaborate on that haha  ::) ;)

and michel is a very cool guy, his oval is amazing! traditional tasteful look - though not original -, amazing sound system, but a roaring engine that literally brought up goose bumps when he fired it up!! last year at budel (event) he was cruising around the camping site pimpy stye  8) and his 2110 sounded so neat. loads of berg parts... amazing car overall!
he's not on any forums, but he's very much into cal-look. though he would get disqualified but the stance police i suppose - as was discussed some time ago -... ps. what should he change else but the smart front tyres?

anyhow, hope the dutch scene is coming up strongly next season!  ;D

good night  ;)

michel at DDD3 in 2005:

yes it sported bumpers back then, and ever since he has even increased the rake by raising the rear! and he swapped his muffler and rear lights for stainless steel and red lights.

Well it's not a true cal looker yet. But i'll post a pic of my 64 beetle. I just bought it 3 months ago, i'm still waiting on the dropped spindles :(.  I know the extra chrome bits aren't cal look but I think that if I remove them there will be a lot of shitty paint under it.

Old mirror I found in my grandmothers garage.

I don't think my car will be a real cal looker but I love the nose down stance and the influence of 50's hot rods. But I also like period accesoires like roof racks etc.

Hey Diederick, I have 145/65 at the front and 195/65 on the back, but I will chance that for 205's

My brothers car getting a total paint job, and a hot engine is comming.
He will also be there @ the 6th with his beetle.

that's the business  ;D
and paint looks tight indeed!

i was just wondering, changing to 145/80 and 205s would change a lot for the look! what kind of 205s you getting?? my brother still owes me a pair off rear tyres, and i feel tempted though i wanna burn my 165s first  8) - but that would require a hotter engine  :-\
plus, i'd have to get my outer ring of the rims repainted as the balancing lead has chipped off my paint...

In your opinion ::)I run a narrowed beam with dropped spindles and discs, nothing rubs, and it rides nice,it,s not a roofrack,it,s not got neons, and it,s not got a hot water cylinder hanging off the window ;D,(sorry swamp cooler)to me a narrowed beam is something the slammed boys came up with ,that has a useful application on a hot motored fast car,to make fitting good brakes and dropped spindles without having clearance issues, easy...........Some things aren,t worth getting hung up on.

Hello

I looked for pictures of my car but I don't have any pictures on the computer! But it is a oval window, 1957, us specification (with bullet turn signals on the front fenders and coral red color. Wheels are flat 4 BRM's. Currently I am running a new 1600cc with dual kadrons and a berg linkage (I hate the original kadron linkage). I bought my oval window fron Ron at Classic Car Centre Brabant. He imported the car in 1997 from california. In 1998 I could buy the car, because Ron wanted a porsche (I believe). First he wanted the oval window to become a shop car, to put next to his stand on the vw events. The picture I posted is from Nao Fuijta, the guy who works at flat4 in Toyko and is in the DKP club. It is the same model and wheels!! And when I saw this car I knew cal-look was the way to go!! First I wanted to paint the car this color, but coral red is the original color for my car. So that was the color to be!! This weekend I will post the pictures!!

Greetings

Brmmark

 ;D

I actually jacked up the back today to get to see the right height. Looked even better, too bad the front always jacks up as well  ;)
I might put myself to the task of raising the rear tomorrow with a little help of my brother. 1 outer spline should sort it, i hope?  ::)

Don't wait too long with dropping the front and raising the rear or the stance-police is coming to get ya!!!

(they're after me too...  ;) ..but not for long.. thanks Sander ;) )

And they should be after you, fit that new beam a.s.a.p.  ;)

I reckon raising the rear will suffice, i think the empty space between tyre and fender should be similar on the front and back. And if i do both, my 145s will probably scratch the fenders. I have avis adjuster and only 2 teeth left i think, 1 tooth is quite a lot. Just look at those early pics i posted on the other forum, it was slammed back then when i bought it  :-\

I think 1 outer spline could be too much. Look at the pic, this is my bug before it became cool  ;D
It was lowered 1 outer spline at the back and looks lower than yours. Maybe you should measure the amount to be raised.

The time the beetle ran out of the production line they had some pos. camber, all bugs do have this.

So i've lowered them one inner spline, and one outer notch up, so most of the positive camber is out :)

Don't go to high diederick, or you'll get positive camber... with the 205/70 tyres you'll get a bit higher as well..

Title: Re: Dutch scene?

a little positive camber looks pretty good imho... most old gassers and fast lookers have it...

short vid i just made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54d4LXRUBp0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54d4LXRUBp0)

hoping to have an even better sound once my kadrons arrive and i get the chance to carry out my little plan  ;D
still this is definitely better than the peashooters, though those didn't bang when stepping off the throttle at high rpm.

Hello!

Yes thats my car, but I ordered a A1 muffler with low down merged exhaust. Tiger is working on my exhaust, so within two weeks it should be on the car. Currently working on the car, there is always something you want to change...........
And the article in the newspaper is dennis'bleu bug, but the reporter got the whole story wrong! I believe dennis never would do it again.

Hello,
i would like to introduce myself. My name is Dennis  8) ;and i'm the owner of the blue late looker on the artikel on keversite.nl. First of all : What a cool forum is this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice to know that cal look isn't totally dead in the netherlands! ;D When you visit aircooled events around here you only see bad "restored" cars on high heels with tar overspray on the fenders (and some people they want to create the smallest disco on earth in their bug) hate that!!!!!!

My car is actually a mexico bug swapped on a'68 automatic pan. Whit this car i would like to represent the late lookers on the scene. It got on the road one week for spa 2006 after a three year during restoration. It now runs a 33 year old 1600 unit with dual kadrons and a merged header, stil drives a top speed of 165 km/h with the use of a At gearbox!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy shit don't you think?
Now i'm getting some parts together to build an 78 X 90,5 engine with dual 44 webers ;)
I will post some nice pictures of my looker next time.

have fun,

Mr Pedrini.....

Yo Eddie!!!! You do have a nice car also, i saw it in real life in Budel (don't know what year) but i was verry impressed :P. Maby you shouldn't swap your tele-dial wheels couse they're really cool!!!!
I only would put some 205/70 tires on the back for giving the car some more cal-look stance. Our cars have simulair styles don't you think? Do you have some more pictures of it you want to share?

Hey Boys and Girls, let me introduce myself. I started the FDK stuff with the confidence that we could profile ourselves against the rest of the Dutch Standard Scene. (could be a club name... DSS...  ???). My car is a '84 Jubi, currently running a 78 x 94 Engine, 044 Heads done by myself, WebCam etc.,  DTM cooling system, 44 IDF's (shitty carbs) , Freeway Flyer Tranny, Discs on all corners and 4 bolt Flat Fours. Before i knew this Forum i drifted off to the Street Racer Look, but seeing the pictures of you guys i'm going back to my (Cal-Look) Roots. Hope i can send pictures soon. So brmmark, Mr. Pedrini we are complete!

I have also built my 2276cc engine in my head. I've figured out all specs and parts... but....

I think I'm gonna go for a 1914cc instead, since that's a more feasible option with my current budget/phase in life...
I'm gonna build a bigger one when I have a fulltime job and my wallet allows me to... but that could take a while...

I know it Hurts, but Gene Berg used to say: buy the best and cry once. I did it the cheap way once and it costed me a fortune. He was and (still is ) right. But lets talk REAL engine specs. What crank, heads, pistons,  lifters, cam, oil pump, etc. Wouldn't that be interesting for all of us. Good Evening You All.

Title: Re: Dutch scene?

Sander lets have some engine specs. please.
Well, its nothing special.
Pistons and barells are from Cima/Mahle, original crank, Engle W110, CR 1:9.7, titanium retainers, HD springs (single),
35,5 x32, ported heads and a lots of torque!!

I also thinking (dreaming??) about my next engine. ::)

Compression i read. What about your, case machining,  heads , cc's, rockers, oil pump, and all the small shit that makes an engine really work...

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Type1/DVK on February 20, 2007, 22:13:09 pm
Autolinea case, mahle set 2165 or '94s, 044ers, DTM shroud, 48IDA's, MSD, A-1 exhaust, + rancho 4.12 swingaxle, the usual hot flavour  :P no screamer but torquenstein..  ;D

I'll go for the Berg 'style', build only once the best that suits your own needs ;)

Well I had some financial drawbacks, so my engine project is laying around for a year now..
But the plan is to build a 2 liter engine with upright cooling system...

specs are going to be:
CU type 4 bus engine
CJ case for the upright generator stand(done)
Standard crank
same weight ligthed rods(done)
flattop pistons (94mm)
CU heads with 41/34 valves
Kadron carbs for the old school look
36 hp fanhouse with modified doghouse for typ 4 cooler (done)
CSP upright kit.

aiming at 100-120 hp for good highway use and some strip action...

But at the moment I am still saving some cash for it.

Kind regards Edgar

PS Pictures were to big to post...

Sorry, but I disagree with mr. Berg on this one. You don't have to spend top $$ to have a powerful and enjoyable engine...

just some basic/loose ideas for a 1914, with the main goal to keep the reciprocating weight and internal forces down...

 - counterweighed crank
 - std balanced rods
 - forged aluminum pistons
 - straight cuts
 - 1.4 CB rockers
 - 44 IDF
 - lightened flywheel
 - equalizer pulley
 - Steve Tims stage 1 (??)
 - CB lightweight lifters
 - cam??

 Nothing more yet...

I like the way you guys think in this thread...

"Narrowed beams are for Dorks! ;D "

"Type 4 Engines in a Cal-Look are a no no."

It's great to see such dedication out of such a small group of die VW friends!  I can definitely relate to you guys.  Before I moved to the desert southwest part of the US, I lived in wet, cold, damp, wintery western New York.  There were no real VW Cal-Look fans in the area.  I WAS THE CLUB.  I had 3 members: ME, MYSELF, and I.  ;D

If it weren't for my internet friends on the Cal-Look forum, I don't know what I would have done!  ???

Funny, I've looked through this thread a few times and enjoyed the cars...Just never gave much thought until I read an article in this months Rodders Journal.  The article is about a serious hot-rod enthusiast from the Netherlands who is into photography...specificaly colorized black and white photos.  The RJ staff interviewed this guy and you'd think that he had a rod himself, but he dosen't....he dosen't even own a drivers license!  Reason being, according to him, is that it costs roughly $5 an HOUR to PARK a car...about $30,000 a year!   :o :o :o  Hat's off you to guys...no wonder there's only a few of you in the pictures  8)!!

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Jordy/DVK on March 09, 2007, 13:36:32 pm

I don't know how the guy came up with the bullcrap, but I don't pay $5,- an hour to park my car... ;D
It might cost $5,- in Amsterdam (and other cities), but most of the people who live there have a free-parking-license or something...

 I pay € 75.- a year insurance, € 0.- a year tax, and € 1.40 for one litre gasoline... and parking is absolutely 100% free... ;D

(getting my drivers license has cost me about € 1800,- though, that's not as easy over here as in the USA I guess... and it's obligatory to take lessons and do examn in a stick-shift car.. otherwise you'll get a note on your license... but that'd be a cheap excuse for not driving a bug... )

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Diederick/DVK on March 09, 2007, 15:15:36 pm
Well i can sort of see what Sarge means. When i still lived in Rotterdam parking was an issue, i didn't have to pay for it though.
And so it can be a problem if i'd move to work in Amsterdam and choose not park my beetle at my parent's anymore...

But you're right on the numbers Jordy  ;)

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Jordy/DVK on March 09, 2007, 16:18:11 pm

Yeah in Eindhoven parking was an issue too, it can be a problem, but nonetheless I know someone who's building a hotrod there.. so..
In my opinion the guy is just making up lame-ass excuses for not driving a hot-rod. ;) ;D

Hi,

The Dutchies are by far the coolest and devoted.... I have some very good friends there and the love for life and cars and friendshp is real. Last year, myself and and friends went to 'geezerfest' (a muckabout) over to Utrecht to see Pim (PLOON) and Jeroen (okrasa geeza) and Luna de Puna.....

Anyway, as I say, lovely people, and a lust that is refreshing. I am a member of the netherlands VW club and went to the barn of club spares, what can I say, a real supply for the needy. Off the top of my head, A crate of NOS 25hp heads and 12 NOS schwimmer carbs.....OG panels as far as you can see, (no kiddin) all for those who really care.  oh and the official records of every VW sold in holland for 30 years. that was worth a look. ;)

Just musing, they are my mates and long live the Dutchies

Lookin forward to Bad Camberg and European Bug In 2007

GET IN

Nice to be part of the site, It's a refreshing change for me

I have to admit, that some years (7-8 years) ago, I thought, that the dutch scene was strange. Strange cars somehow, but great parties and very nice people. Sometimes, you saw two or three cool cars (I remember seeing JeePee's blue looker for the first time in Budel and going around (and under) it for 5 minutes - it had it all). Then I met Dokke and his family and was even more convinced, that you just have to look for the right people, no matter from which country the are. I think the Cal Look "spirit" is growing in Holland, nice to see that!

And Amsterdam is amazing. Spent a wonderful week with the missus there.

Today was a good day  ;D
JeePee had offered to help me fix my stance a few weeks ago, and today was the day to get to it.

Because of the amazing help of JeePee himself, his friends and my brother (who fixed the electrics) I now drive around town with an amazingly nice rake, though i may lower the front another notch...  ::) ;)

Much too low with these temporary wheels:

Off we went:

My brother's approval of the final results:

Drove it outside next to JeePee's immaculate 64 for some quality Cal-look pics  ;)

You're right about that Zach, Good/Year 205/70

I did Andi, but to be honest, i still need to wire it up.
But now did i've got the whole wiring sorted properly i shouldn't be a problem, i just i have to see how to run the wires "through" the dash. I'm thinking of the vent in the middle of the dash, but the wires are a little short  ;)

What about doing it like so:

I would at least try to run the wires through the tach mount and the button hole.

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Diederick/DVK on March 25, 2007, 13:46:58 pm
I have no idea how to fabricate those few holes, looks like a precise job.
And doesn't that require drilling another hole? I can't see how I could run those wires through or along with the bolt  ???

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Jordy/DVK on March 25, 2007, 14:00:40 pm
The last rib is thick enough to make a guide for the cables to the bolt...
If you make some space in the backing block and use a washer to secure the mount I think it's gonna work.
If you do it on a column drill it will be precise enough. Just take enough time... Measure twice, drill once...

btw. You can do the back with a 7 buck DREMEL HSS cutting tool. Buy one which you can also use for your head porting. A good investment...

Jordy, hit me up on that later. I am very interested  8)

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Type1/DVK on March 25, 2007, 16:34:36 pm
I've made a bracket that fits the wiperswitch hole.. with a hollow bolt :D the wires run through there, so no drilling!  The wiperswitch will be mounted inside the dashbord-glove..

If you need some soldering on those wires Deed, lemme know.. :)

@Jordy, hope to receive the Autometer shipment next week :D

Alright, just finished installing caster shims, 19mm bugpack sway bar and lower the front one tad on the avis adjusters - unfortunately that only turned out as a 0.5 cm drop  ??? Well, i can still go 2 teeth lower so i might have another go next time.

Took my brother for a ride to take some pics, i was just blasting over the dykes the handling is so much better now, but then i saw police car so i had to slow down  ;) They looked very questioning at me though  ;D

Here we go, the 3 nicest IMO:

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Zach Gomulka on March 25, 2007, 21:09:45 pm
Looking very nice!! The caster shims will slightly raise the front end, so another notch on the beam will probably get you where you want to be.

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Diederick/DVK on March 25, 2007, 21:39:38 pm
I suppose you're right about that Zach! Do you have any idea how much one more tooth on an avis adjuster will lower the front?

I was so surprised about how much of a snap the shims were to install! Feels good to have accomplished this much this weekend  8)

Alright, i'll do that next time...

The weird is though that the upper bolt seems to be in the lowest position already, i didn't touch this one since i could already change the heigth by lower the bottom bolt  ::)
Aren't i supposed to loosen both bolts?

Just wondering...

Thanks Jelle! I appreciate it 8)

It was a beautiful day and i drove around big time today, went to uni from my parent's place, and incidentially all my friends saw me driving around today.
They were all amazed, said it was so cool. Asking me whether i just bought, naaaahhh took me almost 3 years to get it to look like this  ;) Then i dropped a few guys off and the way home, they were pretty amazed by the monster tach as well  :D So, i told them as much about the california look as i could in a few minutes. Pretty cool, surely brought a grin to my face everytime.

But it did notice a few things during the 75km i drove today. All of a sudden (perhaps i didn't notice before) i have a pretty big difference in the brakes, if i don't hold on the steering wheel firmly it pulls to the right quite a bit. Could i have messed anything up on the brakes while pulling away the rear axles on Saturday? Perhaps the brake cable were stretched too far? I'm just guessing it's the rear...
And there's a click in my steering wheel/or the tube when i go over bumps  ???

Any ideas lads?

I still remember the party in Budel 2000. On friday night, there was an EXCELLENT(!) cover band, performing songs from rage against the machine, skunk anansie, etc. I will always remember this evening. I think it was this party, where a german guy broke his leg, "dancing" to the music. Man, I was DRUNK! :-)

Thanks DeNiro!  ;) I appreciate it!

We have a Vollgas Cruisenight planned on April 14th and I'm reallly excited to see what it will be like!
I won't be there with my ride, as it will be at the painter's  8)  I'm sure i can hitch a ride in JeePee 200hp monster  ;) Man, what a launch that was when he took off after we had been busy on my 67 all saturday! Took me about 5 minutes doing 75mph to catch up  :D
But hey, i'll be fixing up my motor in 2 weeks! Got my kadrons lying in my room at my parent's place, god i'm sure that the first carbs you use look massive at first, i've got them all hooked up to their manifolds and air cleaners and i can't wait to mount them. But i'm sure they'll just disappear compared to IDAs, but hey it's my first step  ;)

But i'm hoping for a big succes on the 14th! There are not that many lookers in Holland, and although it's not that far from the border for the Germans i'm hoping some may come! That would be awesome. We'll take pics for sure!

P.s. i found that the click in my steering wheel is a sort of electric shortcircuit, perhaps it's my horn or indicator that is faulty?????  ???

And then after 5 minutes we left, i thought throttle cable was sticking at 2500 RPM  :o, Dennis says Vapor lock... After 2 hours of cooling down ? Aluminum Cases don't stay That Hot. 20 minutes later all cool. Then Engine starts poppin'and banging again, when i went off throttle. I DID replace that stinking IDF. Made it home on FULL throttle with Freeway Flyer Gearbox  :D :D Then ran into Alcohol Hold-Up by local Sherrifs 5 minutes from home. I blow, and after the (no-alcohol) Beep the Officer tells me: Its Loud. I tell him: I didn't Drink. He responded: No, the fucking Car !!! Made it home at 24.00, smoked 5 cigars and had a few red wines to get back to earth... But it was a cool meeting...

Bunch of nice cars but I'm wondering about the relative lack of 50's cars? Just one split is all I see, and no ovals at all? What's with that?

Title: Re: Dutch scene?
Post by: Jordy/DVK on April 15, 2007, 19:51:29 pm

Two ovals to be precise... ;)
Here's one, but I don't have a picture of the other...

It's just that nice lookers are few and far between in the Netherlands. So not many of them are splits and ovals.
Also splits and ovals are way harder to find over here than in the Scandinacian countries. Holland is small and many old cars were crushed instead of stored in a barn, just because most people didn't have the space to store it. And they use salt over here to clear the roads from snow and that salt solution is really destuctive for cars...

Scrolling true some topics i came across this one.

Maybe its late but after living for awhile in holland i noticed that holland isnt really car minded like the states or zweden,uk.
If you go to certain vwshows here most "cool" cars are either german or belgian.
You have a select group of guys who are really into callooking or restocal. These days alot of guys are into hoodrides, narrowing and slamming and not really into performnace.
I think a reason that most of the dutch vw beetle drivers arent into performance is that besides that they are not so carminded parts are way expensive compared to the states. If i hear what some parts cost i could have build 2 engine in the states or Curacao where i came from originally.

What i also noticed here is that because holland isnt carminded they run behind on certain scenes but when they get into it they do it great. The callook is getting of the ground just now but its a small group of followers just like dragracers.
 ;D

Finding cars is ok, a couple of companies here are importing cars from Sweden which are a good base most of the time. Engine parts and especially tuning parts are much more expensive than in the states.

Two years ago, I met Volksfahrer (Erwin) in Hessich-Oldendorf, and last summer, Ome Sander with his 411 was in Croatia in city of Vrsar.
Dutch scene is nice, and I'm familiar with some of your nice cars...

JeePee, you need help building your engine or are you waiting on parts?
If you need help, maybe I can help.

Let me know if you do.

Hope see you more this year.
Last year was a shit year for me.

I've been low profile for like forever. Had my project parked safely a 3 hr drive away from home for several years.
Been working on the odd-bits on the drivetrain on and off (typ1 turbo engine, built gearbox)  the moments that i could.
It's coming back to the Netherlands soon and i might even put some work into it  ;D

1957 beetle i don't know what style it fits, my own at least  ;D

Picture taken 08-2012  :'( and didn't touch it ever since

Jeepee,

I still have the beige 67 car that is waiting too put the engine (2165cc ex Jesse) and the shorter gearbox in it with some upgrades.

Then i have a blue 67 with OG ragtop in it but no plans with it yet.

And the ex Otto bros flying bug i bought in July. Raced it in bitburg with only 3 passes i managed to get a 11.2.

The engine is with the Otto bros right now for some upgrades. Also bought a autocraft case, 86 flanged crank and all the other stuff to build a Bigger engine this year.

Oh and also got a 68 yukon yellow convertible somewhere.

So where are still alive and busy.

Jeroen.

Hi you guys! Thanks for the nice words vwcab, JP and Wout! The car is still around and lives in my basement under the house. Nothing much changed since 2007.Ones and a white i take it out for a spin. Still equiped with the 2017cc IDA engine. I still have the same passion for the hobby.. but times change.. having a time consuming job reduces the wrenching time. Having another vw project in my garage which evolves verry slowly. Raising the bar some more and try to build another awesome ride! How are you doing guys?

DVK Cruise & BBQ ‘21
——————————
Last saterday we had our annual DVK BBQ & Cruise which took place at Oud-Turnhout 🇧🇪
It was good to catch up with friends, enjoying the sun (sometimes  ::) ).

The club went out cruising, exploring the Belgian country side close to the Dutch border. Taking photo’s at cool locations is always fun  8)

In the evening we all enjoyed a beer or soda while Luke and I took care of the grill  ;D
Who doesn’t love a BBQ?!  ;)
