It's old school for a reason

well a quick post of the new toy for 2011,

after a bit of soul searching  I decided that the low light project I had on the go wasn't going to get finished anytime soon so after selling the ghia I found a '59 flint grey German rag top with semaphores very original with one repaint on the outside, chalk inspection marks can still be seen in some areas etc etc

I still have the original wings, but the guy I bought the car from had changed the wings for day moulding wings which will be painted for now until I have time to repair the old ones.

A good friend of mine has done a few repairs as the car had been laid up with mud on and needed a few careful repairs to get her shipshape again.

Plans include a 2276 high compression motor with magneto berg linkage and 48idas and a few period parts, install the half cage I got from fastbrit and a new close ratio gearbox just re-cased by Pete at the cog box with a slightly longer 4th and 3rd gear and a new quaife diff.

Wheels for now will be powder coated 356 slotted front and back and 6" slicks for the track

work already done includes new window rubbers and trim and a 6v to 12v conversion

lots to do and I'll post some better photos when I have time

Interior will be stock apart from a DDS shifter and a set of 5 point harnesses and I have a spare rear seat that will donate material to affect a repair to one of the front seats that has a small hole on it.

Plans for the old girl ( lotus white looker ) include a rebuild of the old engine including a new turbo spec cam, now done and installing a cb blow through turbo with efi.

This set up made over 300hp on a similar engine and after a rebuild of the turbo, which apparently was never set correctly and a little lower psi should be good for 200 to 250 hp and mated with the pro street 89 4th rancho box I have should be a nice reliable drive

A change for wheels from fuchs to og 8 spokes really changes the look of the car and a little TLC should get her back looking her best

Photos to follow  but a quick one of the cb turbo mock up
