Ok, danny is working now that the weather is in the 30's and 40's... rear apron is now removable w/aircraft nutserts. rear fenders painted too. I also bought 1 3/4 header pieces form al's muffler and had danny piece together a nice header system with marmon clamped muffler, black ceramic coated. Nice welds and fitted to car. The pea shooter holes where fillled , danny says all metal work, less than a 1/2 TEASPOON of bondo on apron. Weber windows are stainless screens with nutserts ,outside lip to be painted still. Next on fabrication project creative breather assmby and plumbing.THEN,linkage fabrication, THEN traction bar fabbing, Then wiring, THEN ?? bill

Nice.
The screens for the carb access windows will remain open all of the time?

thanks fred, tried to post more pics before your next posting.. screens open all the time, planning on no air filters at this time either.. Fair weather car. Put over 30k on previous 48 ida car with no airfilters, My friend ken taber gives me grief on no filters all the time. Removeable apron now, serviceable 94 p & c's, with my valve spring service every 30k? thanks again. Danny does great work. bill

Nothing wrong with no air filters and a removable apron... after all, it is YOUR car. Only thing that I know about is having those screens open all of the time. Will that cause unwanted debris from the rear wheels to enter the carbs? Hopefully, not. On front engined cars, when people open up their fender wells like that, their airboxes suffer from hot air and road crud getting in there. Has anyone else tried the open door method like your car?
In D.K.K. we had a couple of cars that ran DCNF carbs and they fabbed doors with either fasteners or hinges. I'm sure you remember those days.

good question, mark. Hard to tell by pics but the stainless screen is pretty fine and angled well. Hot air in? maybe even hot air out too. I am running an empi eye brow decklid, so breathing and temps to be judged. Screen insert can changed later too, as its made to a maxi pad" light day" inset size if neccessary... bill

The pad insert idea sounds GREAT. It would be a great litmus to see if any dust or unwanted stuff is entering your engine compartment.

I guess I should show how clean the back of apron looks with nice support panel. Back panel unattached is shown in prepaint shot. bill
