I thought i'd share a few never before seen pic's from from the Foundry/machine shop here in Vancouver (B.C. Canada)where EMPI and many others had their products made.
Gary Lang supplied parts to EMPI, CB, Sandmaster, Truehoft and many others.
I'm in the process of going thru Mr Langs collection of parts, pictures and literature so I can put together the entire story from the 1960's to Late 70's when he stopped production of his VW line.

These are some of the best shot's I've seen yet.

Here is Gary behind the Lathe at 20 Jackson st in Vancouver around 1972

One finished EMPI sump

and the money shot.....a completed order of 150 sumps!!!

Here is a link to the shop as seen today o on Google maps.

enjoy!

Very cool Geoff.  Looks like Graham Nash was moonlighting as a machinist back then.   Grin

Geoff,
I had a talk with Bruce about that awhile back and he said that Gary thought he had a few made from Magnesium.

Very interesting! If it says made in Canada then I guess he did. I'm just starting to go thru some of the paperwork now so maybe I can find something regarding that.

Here's a little wash job on that lathe shot.
Look at how dark those sumps are.  Could they be Mg ones?

Geoff, after Richard told me he had a Mg sump a couple of years ago, I asked Gary about it.  At first he denied ever making them from Mg.  But then after stroking the grey matter for a bit, he did recall there was a foundry nearby that specialized in mag casting, so he admitted he could have done a batch in mag.
I think Richard's sump is proof.
