Has anyone tried any other producer of bottom end components (crank, rods, flywheels) other than the usual suspects of Scat, Bugpack,CB, Berg etc? I was wondering because I remember going to a trade show years ago and seeing the stuff that was home-made. I talked to one of the guys at Farndon Engineering about cranks and he said that it wouldn't be a problem for them to make a crank for a VW-any length throw, journal combo etc and for a price that was then comparable to a flanged crank from Scat. He showed me one of their cranks and it was beautiful. I have a Scat billet crank in my 2800cc race engine and it's nice but this was in a different league. Never got around to ordering one though and I forgot about the whole thing for a while. Maybe someone else here has been more adventurous though. I don't mean Farndon specifically, but any of the specialist firms that exist here in Europe. I would like to read about your experiences.
