Frank's upolstery in Whittier quoted me $325, and say's he makes his own. I've seen his work and it is very nice.
He's behind the Taco Bell on Whittier and Greenleaf.

I think what I want is a pre-made ( like Tmi or West coast metric ) headliner for now untill just till paint it which will be a few years down the line (unless I win the " lottery ") then it will be torn out and a "Good" one installed...I just hate my old one it looks nasty ...

There's a lot of factors. Kit or made up from yardage? Stock (muliti piece) is more labor intensive than a one piece style and costs more. Sunroofs cost more. Cloth is harder to get right and someone may charge more for that. Also, is the upholsterer pulling all the glass/trim and re-installing with new rubber/trim/visors/etc? Or is he just installing a headliner in a bare car and giving it back to the customer? I usually take the opportunity to replace the carpet on the rear wheel wells and firewall at the same time, since it needs to be pulled up anyway. And if the headliner is crap, usually that carpet is, too. If it's a '68 and later car, the windshield needs to be pulled, rubber replaced, etc. Stock trim in the rubber or cal look style? As you can see, it can easily cost $600 or more...

Don't know all the details, but I'm pretty sure the car just came out of the paint shop with no windows installed or anything, and my buddy and his family are doing most of the interior themselves.

Wolfsburg West will see you the correct original style headliner, with the seperate section that goes around the rear window. If you want a cleaner/different look, you can get the one piece style that makes the rear window section one with the main headliner portion.

Zack, Would you ever use spray adhesive out of a can ? Verse spraying from gun. and is there any good can adhesive? I am going to install my own, I dont want to buy a 5 gallon can of adhesive and gun and preasure pot to do one or two headliners if ya know what I mean. Is the 3m stuff in a can good enough? And if not what would you use? I dont want the stuff to fail 6 months later. Thanks

For what it's worth, I used to do all the interiors (from pre-sewn kits) back when we built cars ... and, I always install my personal interiors.
I found the aerosol adhesives
can
work OK, especially for light trim pieces. But, for the main section(s) I like to use that Weldwood contact cement/adhesive sold at Home Depot and such.
I know its lame, but I use a brush to spread it on just where needed on both surfaces, then use a heat-gun to 'cure' it before sticking it down for Good. I feel the heat-gun is the key to the adhesive working well ... Much better than without.
Also, used conservatively, most any wrinkles can be worked out as you pin it down.
I used to hate doing headliners, but now I think its kinda fun ...
Then again, I haven't
charged
anyone to do one in quite a while.

I personally wouldn't trust anything out of a can to hold anything important and/or heavy. We use a cheap siphon gun and contact cement for headliners, carpet, etc. It's not only the glue failing in 6 months you have to worry about, it's the fact that the spray glue just doesnt have the holding power that contact cement has. You can really pull on the headliner and it will stick where you want it to with contact cement. I always glue both sides, then heat the vinyl while the glue tacks up. Gotta be careful with too much heat and perforated vinyl though!

I`ve used 3M super 90 spray glue for carpet and it works good but it`s $15.00 a can and I probably used like 6 cans to do it. So, buying a spray gun and a bucket of glue may not be so bad after all. And as far as that porno headliner goes.... have you looked at the price a good Club magazine???
