first strip paint . your going to need a torch. and a tear drop shaped dolly . 00 and .000 torch tip . it would be ez'r to do this with out inner structure. but it can be done with left in . first start heating the corner of raised area about the size of a pencil  then with dolly and hammer, you off dolly hammer the area down. about 4-5 hits with hammer then repeat to the next area till you have gone all th way around. do not use wet rag after each heat shrinks , it tends to make metal harder like heat treating. after take file and file area, just to see were your at. {highs and lows} then  hammer and dolly and get surface to the right level, shrinking disk is a must for this application. this is going to be a very good test for your skills  and makeing tools for getting between the skin of hood and inner structure. I would advise to practice on somethig before you try on nice hood. If any question you no were I'm at and good look

Thanks Danny! (I think this was in response to a PM I sent Danny) It looks like I will need to hunt up a replacement hood anyway. After stripping all the paint and bondo off mine I found it was in pretty poor shape. But I can at least practice with it.

Thanks Again,

I got mine form here:

He is a VW guy and it was a lot cheaper than the Sunchaser tool. They work really nice.

something to think about, the more pass's you do the more harder the surface get's, so running a file over to metal finish get's harder. I only use them a couple time's before start fileing process

Had mine shrunk at Becker's years ago...still thinking about the car badge.  It's a tough decision to make!

Yeah, your the one that got me to thinking about shrinking it out. And if it was me, I would put that badge on there. Got to show your colors with pride.  Grin

I've been thinking about embossing my stock emblem so it's flush with the skin of hood. would like to do crome strip's on side of car that way.

Mine was shaved using a section of a 1200 late model hood, they don't have the emblem and the ventilation slots...

and laurent did not just use the other bonnet because it would'nt fit right..
