According to the article, it's a '68. Apparently the parking brake released and the car rolled into the pond next to the owners house.

My dad always swore you never trust a parking brake to hold a car facing backwards.

A friend had a 1970 Beetle that did something similar. Really nice car, in original paint, originally sold by Economotors and with full history, built box and 2074cc motor. The handbrake wasn't on as much as he thought and it rolled into his girlfriends fathers car... Gutted!
