What do we have:
just the original 1700 cc engine code "V" 68 HP
2 solex carbs original
Porsche type cooler
good Cilinders and pistons
Any info is welcom
Thanx
The 'V'-coded cases were the very first ones from end of '68 or something out of the first year VW411.
Those cases were - unlike all other type 4 cases - made from the same metarial as type 1 cases: magnesium-alloy...One year only!
Pretty rare, although you hear it now and then still.
Lots of unique parts on that engine. For instance: piston pin diameter was 23mm (!) Very unique as T1 is 22mm and type 4 is 24mm. Keep rods and pistons together therefore or you'll need a custom bushing.
Also oil return pipes have special size on (I thought) head side. So heads and push rod tubes need to stay together as your not gonna find another set easy.
Lots of small other detail on the case (like no vertical anti-oil slutch walls like other type 4 cases have standard) too.
I think thats maybe enough for now?
Greets,
Walter
