Hi after a car crash last year i started to get it fixed today.
I noticed that there s a different wings size on it
one the new one came from the tiki racer .
the other one pas side is as it was an stil on the car .
are there difference in fender shape model or is it an aftermarked?
i want to use an original piece .
What to look out for?

correct oval fenders have a metal tube for the headlight wires, also the shape of the bucket is distinct to oval and earlier fenders. also where the running board mounts there is a pronounced hump not found on later fenders. there are some more differences such as a more pronounced curve over the headlight , but the first 3 i listed should tell you at a glance what you are looking at.

some pics

this pic shows the metal tube for headlight wires. also the shape of the rear of the headlight bucket, later fenders have two small indentations  at the top and bottom of that crease in the centre of the bucket

this one shows the flare at the bottom rear edge where it meets the running board. later fenders don`t have this flare

pic of later non oval fender, in headlight bucket you can just about see  the indentations in the rear of the bucket

if you look at the back of the headlight bucket there are two little pressings in the metal, hard to see in this pic i marked, but the pic of the same fender above you can see them clearly

There seem to be some small differences cause I'm 100% sure the brown fender is a 54. I cut the metal tube of myself Grin
Don't know if the factory made changes between 54 and 56

early pre 55 ?? fenders were slightly wider also.

measurements taken from 5th bolt hole.

early oval , pre 55

later fender , post 55

just spotted this picture from above. here you see the headlight bucket of the brown wing has a much smoother curve at the back of the bucket, the original red wing has a more squared profile at the back of the bucket.

red wing looks original 56, brown wing looks early oval

Ok ovaldriver nice solution .
But my fender is also wider so my wheel is deeper in the early type fender .
Did you also solve that problem or wasn t is there?

finding you have a 54 fender isn`t a bad problem to have, you should be able to make a swap with somebody for the correct 56 fender

if you found you had a later fender or a repro one then you`d have a bigger problem  Grin
