  Can someone post pictures of Porsche 914 gauges mounted on the dash of a Cal Looker such has the tach and the speedo just want to have an idea how it looks.

    Thanks looks nice I am building a 1966 Zenith blue Cal Looker and want to put Porsche 914 gauges in it trying to see various applications.

There is a thread called Dash Layouts with a nice pic of a DAS Late Looker (Bahama Yellow if I am correct).
It is pretty nice.

HI Frenchy

If you use the 914 or 911 tach, make sure you have them dampened so the needle does not bounce a lot,
I used the 8,000 Rpm 911 tach and had it both dampened and converted to 4 cylinder

Hi, Frenchy, it's Roland from NY. 15+ years since I last saw you- at the Berg's shop, I think! On my non-Cal-Look '77 Std Beetle still with its padded dash, I cut out and moved the stock speedo to the right, then welded in another speedo "collar" to the left to mount a 914 tach. Tach is same size as the stock Beetle speedo. Left enough space in between for two 2 1/8" VDO gauges. Made a cover panel out of thin sheetmetal which is painted in wrinkle-finish black, and screwed to the dash with some black-colored Phillips screws. If you add the chrome rings around both large gauges such as from the '60's, you'd have a unified look for your Cal-Looker. Then try to find VDO Series 1 gauges that have a similar style. Best feature of this gauge arrangement is that all are visible through the steering wheel, and not off to the side or blocked by the rim. That's a '73 SportsBug steering wheel.

My car isn't nearly as cool as some of the others posted here and it's not finished yet (I've gotta a lot of final touches like mounting my Blaupunkt Frankfurt and putting in a proper size glovebox door) but here's my attempt at an old school dash....

I know this is off topic but I recently bought a May 1980 issue of Hot VW's and was looking at the classified section and saw your Ghia listed for sale....That car inspired me to build my Oval Rag that was featured in Hot VW's many years later.

    Thanks Larry I wish I had that car today. The car was sold in early 1980 and went to Japan i was hoping someone there would have seen it but as of today no news yet. I have a set of 14 x 5 1 / 2 Porsche alloys I am selling if you know anyone interested. Take care Larry thanks for the post .
