These are tapes I made interviewing people for the first Cal Look VWs book back in 1993/4.
Included are Dean Lowry, Gene Berg, Bill Taylor, Roger Grago (all sadly are no longer with us). Then there's The Schleys, Ron Fleming, Greg Aronson, Jim Edmiston, Gregg Bunch, Dave Dolan, Dave Rhoads, Tom Lieb, Ron Rosevear, Dyno Don, Rich Kimball, Jere Alhadeff, Dean Kirsten and Darrell Vittone. There's probably 20-25 hours of interviews here.
Is this the ultimate sound archive for the California Look scene?

Any chance of seeing these put up as podcasts or something?

Great idea! I have some relevant YouTube up of my own. For audio only, I have a phone call or two that I recorded which I want to add to YouTube and simply put some stock video to go along with the audio as that is a requirement to upload to YouTube. I can let you know how I did that as soon as I get to it.  Cool
With your cassettes you are going to have to find a working cassette player, and plug the audio out into your computer audio in and set the levels. With a component cassette player you will need either a headphone plug to mini stereo plug cable or RCA to mini plug if you use the rear outputs. Easy but you need to babysit it and flip the tapes and hope you don't crunch the tape. Older cassette players need to be run occasionally to keep the rubber belts from slipping so test them out on a shit tape first.

I thought this was going to be about a library of different engine sounds. Header samples. Turbos. Before I added the muffler someone said my turbo sounded like a V8. Crossed with a sport bike. Kinda miss that sound. The neighbors don't though.  Wink

Cars and engines sounds should totally be added to these recordings Smiley
