I have a 1959 beetle i'm building and my trans is from a 1963.  I purchased a bus nose cone, however I want to run this type 1 heavy duty hockey stick ( http://ranchotransaxles.com/shop/heavy-duty-hockey-stick/ ) and it only works with the type 1 1961+ nose cone.

I'm planning to run a weld-in solid mid mount, eliminating the need for a front trans mount.

So my question is: Do I still need to replace the nose cone on my 63 trans to the bus one if I'm not running a front trans mount?

It seems that you can purchase a weld in front trans mount plate (https://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111701173C) eliminating the need for a bus nose cone.

Thoughts? Thanks!

PS: Its also not just about running the heavy duty hockey stick.  Its about having the ability to swap the transmissions around without having to deal with the nose cone.
