Hello,

I'm building a 2332 for the strip. Some specs:
84x94
Wedge ported heads (44x37)
1.4 rockers
FK87
Compression is set at 1:11
Ported big beef manifolds and 48 Ida's
The cars weight is approx 1300lbs

My questions about the ignition and exhaust.

Ignition: I'm using a Magnaspark II. Do I need a MSD also to make it work right for the strip?

Exhaust: I'm thinking about a CSP Wasp header with megaphone. Do I need a stage 1 or stage 2 for my combo?
Is a megaphone still the right way to go? (because some raceways are asking to use any kind of muffler)
Or maybe you might have some other suggestions?

How about take it to the track and see how it goes. Get a time slip and work out a plan to get the times down. Are you taking it down the track for fun or wanting to go quicker and quicker. As for ignition, my turbo motor is still using points and a standard coil, runs fine. Maybe I'm missing out on loads of ponies but I doubt it.

I'm taking it to the strip for fun, but off course there is a goal to go quicker with any changes. But my question about the exhaust is to get a "experianced base". In other words, I don't want to buy a stage 1 and after the first tests it seems to be to small and a stage 2 is needed. Wink

2332 is a good size motor. I'd get the stage 2. As you experiment with engine combos the power will go up and you will definitely need a bigger sized header. Mine is only 41 mm I. D. Wish I'd have gone bigger now.

My 2332 cc, 11:1 CR, IDAs, MS230 heads, 274-degree Raptor cam and I have Wasp Stage 2 with muffler. The Wasp Stage 1 might be too small for you.

The thing with the exhaust system Is much what your head flows On the exhaust side Then what rpm you want to get the maximum power We have taken out 254 hp with a 1 5/8 standard system that was tuned in length
MSD is preferred but one should have a generator for Msd draws 1 amp per 1000rpm and wants to reduce the voltage significantly on a 402 run (if you run with a log and a wide band lambda you can see that it gets richer at the end of the run One mistakes that many make that only run battery on 12v (13.2) therefore many drive with 16v without generator)
I hope you've got flow paper on your head
We also ran with wasp 2 on the same engine and a few hp more
The car with that engine went 11.02 with IDA       raptor 44 mm (1643 lb)

What worries me about a cdi, wether it be msd or some other supplier is paying for the unit itself, the leads,and the coil, fitting it all and get no extra bang for the money. I need convincing it's a no brainer upgrade.

I have flowdata of the heads, but this is the std info from CB's website. The std chamber is 67cc, but I changed it into 50,5cc. Does it increase the flow of the heads?

No
If you have not modified the combustion rooms
Are your intake  CNC ??
If you read carefully at the bottom of the page it says how they did when they flowed
If you have a good intake increase you are about 5-10% on the flow If it is bad you can lose 15% on the flow

Yes if heads are flycut as valves move out into un shrouded open area quicker
