don't you think that baja bugs, if done in the right way are nice toys?

i saw so few in european meetings....and without that attention i would like to see....

i would like to do a very period correct baja....

oval sunroof body, no windows....eer vynil windows to button on the body, bugeye kit, bucket seats, grant wheel, jackman white stars wheels (no hubcaps) or centerlines, satin finish with pins, tubolar roll cage and cage tubolar bumpers, high stinger, kc driving lights on the roof and on the base of windcsreeen, (two smiles and two big kcs) mickey thompson baja tyres (just so close to western auto sand blaster and so on)...

what do you think?

You dont need a dessert for my favorite baja!!

Look at this car, American racing spindle mounts up front and chunky rubber at the rear...   Centred driving position??  One rubber strap to hold down the hood...   and the best of everything, the lightened roof...!!  crazy stuff...  and a rake to die for!!

I don't think you need desert but just a bit of mud...
Just take a look at this blog: http://mud.skynetblogs.be/archive-month/2007-06
or this gallery site:
http://web.mac.com/gra.art/mypictures/DMD2.html

You'll see that a lot of people like it in Europe.

Almost a Baja

My ex-boss' 1302 built for Classic Trialling (thrashing old 2wd cars up near impossible muddy/rocky tracks)

Competes in a 'standard model' class with permitted mods. A Baja has to compete in a Modified class which has stricter limits. I compete(d) in Class 8 (Unlimited) in my Fugitive which has the tightest limits.

In action

Not bad for a 1300! Smiley

I've said it before here:  I would LOVE the right narrow-eye Baja Bug as a year-round daily driver.  Fun to drive, not too expensive, and will go anywhere.

Got a feeling it's a sand drag car. I'm sure I've seen it in an old Hot VWs, little black and white picture from the late '70's.

i know! i have been there.

they usually just run a floorpan with a seat on it and a stick with ducktape holding the steering up and call it a baja.
as much as i hate it, i have grown to accept it. and i have been fortunate enough to meet some Dutch people who do have some tasty busses and callooks.

Baja's are similar to Fat Chicks !

You can't stand to look at them, but.... (6-12-18 beers later, (2 for Zach Wink))  you're inside one, and it's kind of fun so you start doin all these super sweet moves you can't do in your normal ride.

Then you wake up, your all stinky and confused. You don't dare tell your friends, because you know they will tar and feather your ass in front of the whole community. Cheesy
