I've seen the car and I just found out he had a MEAN mouse engine that got him into the elevens?!?!
But I have never heard the tale... is there one?

Kris drove that as a street car for many years before crossing over to a full dedicated racer in the mid 70's and yes in fact it had a  1750cc engine(72x88) that pushed it into the 11's with 14:5 compression/ 11.93 E.T. full weight with driver @ 1770 lbs.....later went on into battle with a (78x88)=1900cc combo and ran 11:53 later went to a 84x94  engine that went 11:11 E.T. @ 119 MPH..!!

Interesting info, thanks. Using a ET calculator found on the www it shows that a 1770lbs doing 11.11 @ 119mph would have approx 235hp. Do you know the MPH he managed with the 72x88 engine on the 11.93 run?

Thanks Dyno and all, the facts are eye openers in more way than I probably realize.
How was this achieved? What revs did this thing see, and who did the heads? I see KRE mentioned on this car, did they have anything to do with it ??
In the lack of something better, any pic’s of the engine?

Again Thanks!

what RPM's you ask..?? going thru the lights at a mere 9K RPM's...and seeing an occasional 10K now and then depending on (missed shifts) or track/tune-up conditions...engine tear down mandatory every 10 passes and trans soon to follow with the 4:87 r/p...KRE was around the corner and were helpful in many ways and the dyno time was most appreciated...heads were a combination of 'steve tims'...'lonnie reed wedgeports'...'autocraft'...and 'superflow'...tims and head shop heads were mainly 42x37 valve sizes...we were the first handful of guys to use (Carter Penleys carbon fiber pushrods) as well as many other innovations for that time period...

When Scott had the Red 67 In hot VW's Mag, Calif. Killers it Ran 12:20's it had a 78x90.5 Motor IDA's,1 5/8 Merge, Engle w140 Cam, Welded Big Heads 42x37 ,and A Built Gear Box, When I Bought the Car I Bought it Less Motor Because I Already Had Alot of parts to Build a New Motor after a Few Weeks scott had not sold the Motor so I ended up Buying it from Him I Tore It Down  and Went Threw it there were a few things I Changed on the Motor. Motor stayed the same Size, same Cam,same IDA's but I raised the Compression and did some Chamber work on the Heads, stepped up the vents and took it Back To OCIR  played with the jetting and got the Car to Run 11:71 and backed it up with a 11:73 this was threw the mufflers with M&H's in the same trim as in the Picture that  Scott ran a 12:20 not to Bad for a DSK Street Car Grin Grin When I gave Scott A Ride in it he could not believe the Difference and kept saying to me What did you do to this Thing? LMAO Im not Tellin Grin Grin  Other then some Old School Know How Grin  I can Say When You Hang Out At Racers  Steve Tims and Roger Crawford Shops you pick up on Speed Secrets Grin Grin
