I have seen a couple of '67s with big motors dropping the z bar. What is the reason for doing this? I thought the z-bar was supposed to be an improvement.

Louis I believe the Z-bar is there to support the car when there are people in the back seat.  It is like an overload spring and not that much of an aid to handling.  If you want to improve the handling at the rear find a genuine Empi camber compensator.  That is what I have.

Well, I don't have a back seat so that won't be a problem. Plus I put 26mm torsion bars in the back. I might just do away with it then.

they act the same way as a camber compensator, but need to be in good condition. all rubbers need to be there and be adjusted properly. it will keep the wheel from tucking under the car when cornering hard. i took mine off the 67 square because it wasn't complete. but if i find the parts to make it work again it goes back on.
