Is it ok to block the heater outlets like this?I will use this shroud for my motor project.

I am going to have it powdercoated black.

Jake Raby suggested to drill holes to not disrupt airflow..

I helped a friend put one of those "low profile" shrouds on a type 3 not too long ago and we were prettty pleased with it. Also, with a little careful grinding, you can remove all of those litle tabs n the front of it.

I did this yesterday.. Smiley

With heater tabs.


And without! cut and grind, welded it and some bondo, and a slap of paint Smiley


We'll see if it works, i think it is better than a chrome 36hp aftermarket one Wink

I thought so. It wasn't much more than the aftermarket 36 horsepower doghouse type shrouds, plus it's a genuine VW part so the fit and overall quality of it was nice.

Looks just like a Thing (Trekker?) shroud, nice work.

I have heard the vanes in the Thing shroud are different, someone should outline the changes so they can be applied to regular doghouse shrouds with the vents blocked off...

I've got a doghouse Thing fan shroud without the fresh air ducts and the internal vanes look the same as the regular doghouse.  But I'll take a look again tonight to make sure.
