Reading Bugnut68's post got me in the mood for some more VW racing stories. Especially if it involves a non-VW opponent. Lets hear some more, especially from our members who were racing back in the day. Whats your favorite story?

PS: Yes I am living vicariously through other people's stories while my car is apart.  Grin

I used to race my bug in a lot of import races. One my favorite things was lining my low 14 second bug up against a buch of 19 second Honda's because they got really pissed when I passed them at the very end of the track.

Once you get the taste of V8 blood in your mouth....

First V8 I wasted was Sheep's 1970 Olds 455 Toronado, with my 94 x 74 IDF motor.
Next was our friend's Tempest 389, I think Sheep's Olds was faster.

My favorite kill was the Mustang out at Raymond Road. This marlboro-man guy thought he seriously had an 11 second car. I went for the throat, taunting the guy. We raced twice, just sucking the doors off his thing... he was full of excuses. After he was done wathcing my taillights get smaller, my friend with a Rabbit smoked his ass too (Oettinger 2.0 liter though Grin).

There was a kid that went to same j.c. as I did, had an orange Boss 302, we lined up and it was close, but I took him by about a car... he was cool about it though, a real "car guy" that knew VW's could run with the big inch metal.

My fav story is when i beat this corvette in a illegal street race back in curacao.
Was on a 1/4 mile distance and the owner bragged that his corvette ran in the 13's according to the
manual and challanged every vw to run against him.

I took the challange and beat him by 3 car lengths,he became my first sponsor for dragracing Grin
