Malpassi regulators and filter/regulator assemblies seem to be very popular with the Weber gurus in Europe. I have a brand new Filter King with pressure gauge and filter, and was wondering what the consensus is on these? A lot of the feedback I have found among Weber tuners has been full of praise.

Thank you.

Not quite true – if you look at many older sports or race cars, they have now been fitted with Filter King set-ups. I don't like them as they seem a bit crude, but they obviously work.

I run a filter king on my 12sec car. Used to run a stock fuel pump, too. Worked like a charm. I have the glass bowl so I can see the level when the car is on the dyno.
What´s wrong with them Harry?

Correct. You do see them on many Weber equipped cars with high specific output motors. The unit I have doesn't seem crude at all though. Beautifully cast mag housing, well finished, etc. The consistency and reliability record of Holleys?
Anyway, hard to find gph rating on these.

For a hot street car, I doubt one of these regulators would come up short on flow...  circuit racing, maybe.

Hi JS, have you ever had a fuel starvation issue? Do you know your motor HP and your fuel demand (gallons or liter per hour)?
Are you running 8mm hose?

Thanks

Nope, no fuel starvation except for a couple of issues with piece of shit electric fuel pumps.  Angry
Back when I had the original fuel pump and small valve heads it made about 150 on the dyno. Since then I changed some stuff on it, today it´s maybe 190´ish based on ET.
I was planning on running the original fuel line, but I changed it to 8mm because I was "told" the original would not work. Which I think it would have...

I was given one of the high flow (?) versions with gauge from my friend that does the Porsche restoration, dyno stuff, etc.
He bought few from a vendor in Great Britain, and has used them on a few 911 vintage-race projects, including a psuedo 911R.
I've been staring at it on my workbench, and it sure seems to want to crawl into my engine compartment. Would look nice next to a pair of 48IDAs and a Vertex, right?
And maybe a little better suited to European carburetors over the caveman Holley.

I used a Malpassi filter king on my IDA equiped 2276 Bug a while back and had no probs. 8 mm hose and 3 psi fuel pressure was more than enough for the 196 horsepower the motor made on the dyno.  Cool

I think the boost-sensitive regulator on my turbo stuff was a Malpassi. Came from CB Perf if memory serves me right.
