I found an old proof sheet of the June 1977 DKP cover shot. The quality is poor but you can get an idea of who was there, and what it took to get those cars on the hill. See anyone you know?

nice shot of a young mike martinez hanging out the window...LOL     mike o'neils car was getting another engine done after driving for some time on 3 cylinders/he was known to have beat the crap out of everything he drove...the black 67 was built by my long time friend and (DGVA) member fred elliott with a 13:30's  1776 and sold (back in the good ol' days) to mike for a mere $2200.  !!

Bill, actually, I think that 1971 El Camino was mine. I drove it because I brought a ladder for the photo shoot.

Blond girl was my girlfriend, Julie.  Sweet girl.  Behind Karen (seated) is Mike Martinez, wearing a hat, and partially hidden by my head is Marty Arriola.

Guess you already downloaded the other pics of her then, no?  Feel free to forward to Mr. Goss.  Always thought he was looking at her a little often.  I think she'd be pretty happy to hear I got the Ghia back...

Doug,

At least you are consistent in your selection of cute women...BLONDES every one of them!  How you been? Is the old GHIA project under way? Was over Saturday for a quick turn to drop some alloys off to Al Reed...and had to get back for a family function. Hope to see you next trip. Coming over for the LA Roadster show the last part of January...at the Fairplex.

Thanks Rick.  I can explain the blonde thing...  3rd grade - Mrs. Williamson.  WHEW!  A rack like Cadillac bumper guards, and always had her blond hair in a French twist.  Followed her everywhere.  If she had ever fallen down, I would still be on top of her.  Besides, Mom was a brunette, and a bona fide psycho.  I thought there might have been a connection, so I just stayed away from brunettes.

Ghia isn't coming along very quickly, since I have no job, and unemployment really doesn't cut it.  I have collected a few pieces, and am dying to get things moving.  Call me and we can yap about it.

Hope to see you when you're over next.
