I just received a message from my friend Jussi J in Finland, and thought it was too cool not to share.

For those of you who don't already know, I met Jussi (and a bunch of other cool Finns) last fall, while in Helsinki on a business trip (click here for the related report and pics).

Jussi and his friend Eki participated in the World's largest national rally, in Finland on February 7th. They were driving the only Beetle in the race - a rally/race prepped 1302 S-71. There were 244 cars entered in the rally, and the team of Jussi and Eki won their class.

You can view some video from the event below (~6.5 minutes long -- Type 1 VW at ~5:25), as well as some screen captures from that.

It looks like I'll be back in Helsinki again this year (late March/early April for about a week), and am looking forward to another trip!

Thinking about it from a spectator's point of view it'd certainly be interesting.  Grin
