Well ,today it's quite hard to find good new product to talk about and by the way those Ti valves from CB are one of those.
We decided to go with them last season on the comp heads we decided to screw on the phantom lady 2387cc engine.After some "forum technical explanation" (I was quite frightened to put unknown parts on the engine!).But after the race season (we made more tghan  40 passes on 1/4miles) and some reallyy hight RPM abuse (we even go to 8600rpm) nd no cooling,the heads and valves are in perfect shape,with no leak !!
When we put the K800 springs and keepers off the valves came off the heads with no problem (without any kind of scrap around the keepers area...)
If some here want to go with those valves ,I can assume them that's  a really good bargain due to the quality and price!!

Hi JR,

thanks a lot for that valuable information as you are usually hearing talk about failing parts only. Iīve recently ordered some CB CNC Comp Ellis and wasnīt sure about the quality of those Ti valves so i chose the chromoly ones... Undecided

Why didn't  you ask me about those valves before ordering ? They are very good quality , the exausts are stronger than the steel ones , what we found out .
I have a set in stock , still early enough to change to the titanium's  Wink

They are the good stuff
I've been running the CB Ti valves since they were first introduced. Very happy. I run hem with the Ti retainers and the locks that give us about 1.820" installed height along with a lash cap. Along with 1.5 Pauter rockers (that actually spec out at 1.58) we have .660" lift at the valve and has been a very durable combo.

I run Ti valves in my Race motor. I got them used from a Nascar motor. E-bay specials.
They had to be majorly re-shaped and shorted, and re-grooved to make work.
However, with all that experimental stuff, they are working great after 3 seasons. No seat deterioration.
I'm running VW dual springs to 8,250rpm regularly with that motor.
CB LW lifters, thin wall Chromo pushrods. Pauter rockers.

Next season I'm upgrading to CB Ti valves and LS-1 Valve springs. I'll probably see another 500rpm once I make the switch.

Oh yeah, forgot to add.
The only problem with Ti valves (that I know of) is wear.
They don't wear well. They tend to gall up and require a speacial "moly" coating to make them last.
I like to set them up "loose" in the valve guides to make sure they have plenty of oil.
For these reasons, It's not the best thing to run in a street motor.

What valve seat material are you running with the CB Ti valves? Most of the Ti valved heads that I've seen
run on copper beryllium or aluminum bronze seats. I'm not familiar with today's heat treatments or coatings
on Ti valves, are they good to run on steel seats?

If I'm not mistaken, Ti valves don't really need exotic seat material unless you are planning on running them for extended full throttle periods.
It's a heat dissapation issue.
With the short blasts of our style drag racing, it's not a huge issue unless you really have the wick turned up high....
