Everyone has parts they have stashed away.  I've been stashing away stuff for years as I imagine most of us have.  Here is part of my stash below.  The distributor is in there because it is a NOS 40HP dist. that I bought years ago for my wife's '61.  The Oberg is one that was made by Parker and says Parker on it.  The engine case is an AS41 never been cut or used.  A set of DCNFs modified by the Bergs and a 69mm Berg crank that I have had for over 20 years and never yet used.

....and no none of this stuff is for sale.

Let's see some of your stash.

So if you turn up "missing" we'll know where to look?  Grin Wink

So far, I have a pair of CB 2.5" spindles with rotors and bearings (N.I.B.), some 8 spokes (also in the boxes new!), about 6 Distributors (a few German 009's, 2-Bosch 019's, 2-Bosch 010's), 40mm Dellortos, 2 pair's of steel single port Kadron manifolds and one set of Treuhaft DP Kadron manifolds (with one set of Rebuilt/rebushed Kadrons and polished Scat linkage), a hurst shifter, a Berg sump (the BIG one), and a bunch or misc. engine parts, along with some misc. homemade parts (copper headlight buckets, matching door sills etc) and some VDO gauges from the early 80's (N.I.B.) for an interior. I also have some houndstooth fabric stored for a cal-look interior.

I guess I'm saving some stuff for my ghia (which is getting closer to paint stage!) but I do plan on getting a later model bug in the future...Maybe a 1968-1970 plain jane cal-look bug to drive everyday. Actually, I keep most of my "stash" so I have leverage to buy other (more valuable) parts-or parts I've wanted for a long time.  Smiley Maybe I'll get some pics up....

Driving Hot VWs for 44 Years Strong!

« Reply #20 on: May 30, 2009, 22:05:39 pm »

Zach,

You going to run 40P11's?  Be sure to go through them if you do and rebush them. They are notorious for the throttle shaft bores wearing and being difficult to get them to idle. When redone they run great. We ran them in the early 70's on a few of our street engines and they were great!
