I need help. Yeah... I know, you've been telling me that for thirty years. But this is a different kind of help. Just found this picture that I took at some VW event.

I'm guessing that could be Kevin's (forgot his last name, but he was the Production Manager at KROQ 106.7FM radio) chopped Oval in the background. But does anyone remember who's beige car this is in the foreground? Since before I snapped this pic, I've wanted to build a 48IDA engine with some sort of header that fed into stock tips. Would probably hold back the potential of the engine... but fun, nonetheless.

Didn't Henry "Hank" Mayeda take a stock '67 Bug, lower it on BRMs, then put a pair of IDA carbs on a bone stock engine for laughs? I seem to remember someone doing that. Ramirez and I talked about it, too, back then.

Those look like IDFs under CSI type magnification.

I think that there was a German company called BAS that made a very nice looking (and very expensive) performance exhaust that exited through the stock locations.

I've seen most of what's available. But after I bought my '67, I had Tiger at A-1 Mufflers build me this 1½" sidewinder, Magnaflow muffler, and flanged lightweight 1½" heater boxes. Way better ground clearance and I like utilizing the factory exhaust ports.

This is the system that I came close to buying... but the price plus shipping to the States was almost half of what I paid for my car. Tiger's was half that and I ended up with some very cool high performance heater boxes (now, THERE'S an oxymoron).

I was just curious who's beige car that was in the picture.

Yes, heater boxes. And I'm not turning. Turns out... I was born old and have never been young at heart, pancreas, or any other vital organ. Sorry, to let ya down, Rick. I'll try to be a better person.
