I would prefer the young Linda V. or Miss Hurst as we know her.

There was an old wooden Carlsbad sign laying off to the side in the weeds...soon, the fire was crackling plenty good!  About this time, Larry Grismer (the guy who ran the show at the track for years) pulls up in his truck and comes over to warm his hands a bit.  When he glanced in the fire and saw his old sign, KAAA-BOOOM!!  I thought we were going to get 86'd for SURE!

Sarge great story. But, you should probably know that when CarlsBAD finally closed down, the two plywood Carlsbad Raceway signs that were right in the middle of the track (yellow, about 4-ft long each), were sold to Don Prudhomme for a mere $10,000!

$10K's "chump- change" for The Snake!  The sign we torched was an insignificant ticket booth piece of discarded scrap (to us anyway Grin)...talk about a two-veiner  Roll Eyes !

You can have OCIR.... I'll take the original Irwindale anyday. Better burgers. $2.50 to get in, $1 for a pit pass, and 55 cents for an In-N-Out burger!

I believe "RUSTIC" would be the correct word.

Is "Rustic" Politically Correct Speak for "Dump?"
