Yeah, I've heard that in England the backwards V isn't a really pleasant gesture. When I was growing up, it was my understanding that it meant victory. Something that dates back way before the Le Mans movie, too. But it was rather cool seeing Le Mans for the first time and watching Steve do that. That part always puts a smile on my face. Can't watch that movie enough.
Back on topic; Keith, just what are you trying to convey in that image? Discuss.

Or, that goes back to an old Roman joke. The Romans used to raise the V-sign to order 5 beers... (V = 5 to you former VWTrends readers).

"The British have been doing a Harvey Smith, flicking the V, and sticking two fingers up since 1415. At the Battle of Agincourt (or perhaps Crecy), the French threatened to cut off the English longbowmen's first and second fingers, thus permanently disarming them. When the English won a surprise victory, they waved their fingers defiantly at the enemy."

Dave Rhoads ordered a couple hamburgers like that in the UK not too long ago. He said he couldn't figure out why the girl got so short with him all of a sudden.

Was he down South or up North? If he was down South, she'd be disgusted with him for having two burgers, if it was up north she'd be disgusted for him not ordering them dipped in batter and covered in grated cheese. I'm from the midlands, in between, and like the goldilocks story we're just f#*king perfect hahaha.....

Well, it's no wonder... the seller is located in Surprise, AZ. Home to many nut jobs, I mean flamboyant people.
I'll be visiting Surprise, AZ this weekend. Can't wait.
