Boom Boom,

I believe that a reason that Soccer is not as well received in the States as it is throughout the rest of the World, is due to the fact that the majority of telecasts of Soccer are during daytime television airings. You know, daytime Soap Operas & the like. Thus Soccer does not receive a large target audience in the States. Besides, who would actually watch Soccer? I mean, it is a far cry from Rugby, to which it somewhat mimics. My point is, when I had channel surfed on cable TV, I had ran across a Soccer game. Curious, I wasted some 10 - 15 minutes attempting to deduce what all of the hype was about. In the period of time that I had wasted viewing this game, I did not once see ANY sideline Cheerleaders, like that of the NFL.  BORING. You know us Yanks, if it ain't got tits and an ass attached to it or it does not travel at some insane speed, you are going to lose our interest very quickly. Besides, us Yanks have a vast selection of distractions. Motor sport, and in particular (not F1, as it truly is as much a fantasy as playing video games) Drag Racing, Land Speed Record racing, sand drags, Red Neck Uncle Daddy Jim Bob NASCAR (I have a very difficult time listening to Red Necks), Motocross etc.

The above comments were done in jest, to poke fun at our worldly brethren. Besides, Soccer is not Rugby, and until there are some Cheerleaders associated with Soccer..... wait a minute.... Soccer Moms... mmmmm.

Have fun, drive your ACVW religiously.

Best regards,

Quite right. No other nation would want to endure the thrashing given out by the Yanks.

However, Ernest Hemingway said: “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.”
