Runs with Scissors

« on: January 29, 2010, 05:29:56 am »

Hi Gang,

So I picked up that set of 40 IDFs today and answering the call of OCD started reading and planning to get them set up correctly. After reading everything I could find on the intertube and in books/magazines I settled on this combo.

32 Vents
55 Idles
200 Airs
F11 Etube
138 main

Does that look right for an mild 1835 with 40x35 heads?

Thanks,

--louis

PS: So while reading one of the books I have on carb theory I came across a formula that recommends vents be no larger than 75-80% of the butterfly size when using 1 barrel per cylinder style carbs. His testing indicated that hp potential was lost when vents exceeded this ratio due to turbulence in the carb. But in the VW world it is very common to run much larger vents. i.e. 48 IDAs with 44m or 46mm vents. Just something I found interesting.
