Just a few more...
The T-bar gang & a cabinet at Mooneyes. There's so much history on those shelves!
The last picture was taken today at Battle of the Imports (Fontana). That's club member Jason Foster on his way to a pass in the 12.40s. He drives the car everywhere! We saw him on Saturday at Bob's Broiler and he drove to Fontana today, too. Incidentally, Eric Calabrese was racing his Red Baron Oval as well & posted an amazing 8.36 ET!!!

Hey fellas, I've got nothing but envy for all of you being able to cruise the new BBBB (Bobs Big Boy Broiler), aka Harveys/Johnies, in Downey. The photos look like you had a great time and meal. It was my place of choice after hitting Lions Drag Strip in the late fifties, early sixties. I even cruised Harveys in my first VW later that decade.

The new BBBB is all about cars and I hope the local VW's and VW clubs like the DKP will support the "real drive-in" they built. Please continue to enjoy it for all of us out of state compatriots that are not able to join in the fun.

See you on  the salt.................

Burly

By the way: Welcome, Burly!
FYI... Burly Burlile had something to do with a certain artwork, which appeared on the cover of the February '75 issue of HotVWs!

Spoke to Hector a while back and he said he really missed the guys - but he had to look after his family first. I told him if he got himself back out into the VW world it'd probably give him a real boost and take his mind off things a little. The problem was that he didn't want to be at a meet or a car show way over on  the other side of town and get a call to say he was needed NOW!
Hector was and still is an inspiration to me and in many ways my mentor. The way he is so deeply into things on and in his '67 is what I really like.
Every time I see a shot of the rear of the car it makes me happy - as I sourced the original Speedwell badge over here in the UK - I had four of them, and I gave it to Hector as a present - it was so long ago I can't recall, but I think it was for Christmas. Anyway, in typical HB style he spent an eon working out how and where he'd use/fit it. Eventually he found that chrome licence plate frame and fitted the badge to it. He couldn't have found a better home for it.
I'm really happy to see him back in action and the car back out. I really wish I could have been there.

Welcome back compadre!

Cool report Sarge...Hectors car- still inspiring.....guessing you don't appear in too many shots because either a) you are chief photographer or b)you were chewing out the diner for not having a wine list Tongue
