initially wanted to cut up my dash to fit the VDO series 1 gauges, now reconsidering. a bit heavy hearted to cut my virgin 66 dash. i like how these gauges look on Bill Schimmer's car though.

i have
3-3/8 series 1 tach
52mm CHT
52mm oil temp
52mm oil pressure
52mm petrol gauge (optional to fit in he car, i can use the stock gauge)
52mm voltmeter (optional to fit)
52mm ammeter (optional to fit)
52mm Autometer AFR gauge

dun think i can stuff all inside the glovebox

Rather than cutting the dash for the guages, we have autometer carbon oil pressure and oil temp guages in our glovebox! I like the look personally, but we used the original trim too, i think you can just see in the pic below! You can also just replace the lid in future if you wanted !

All of those in the glove box?! No way. Gauges were meant to be seen, not hidden.

Absolutely, not much point in having them if you can't see em!

I did it like this, the beauty is that I still have a glove box that I can use when I shut the lid and I also belive you can make room for 5 instruments this way. You do not even have to drill if you find a strong enough glue.
