Well, took my car out for a spin after a jet change in front of St.Bruno's Church, sorry father, anyway coming back, car acted kinda funny. By then the motor was kinda warm. Pulled into my driveway into the garge. Noticed a bunch of drippings on the driveway after. So went to check out what was up thinking I had an oil leak. Checked the spots, didn't feel or smell like oil. Then it dawned on me. I turned on my fuel pump, checked the carbs, then checked behind where the fuel regulater is and bingo, fuel sqirting all over the place. Shut it down, man, I thought I could have lost my car if it would've caught fire. So will be checking ALL my fittings in the morning and doing some clean-up. Word of advise....check your fuel line fittings, only takes one spark.  Embarrassed

I know the feeling, I had a float pivot pin fall out of an IDA..there is a reason those are safety wired. Shocked

Thanks for the story, glad it didn't turn bad for you.  I have my carbs off right now so this is a good reminder for me to check all lines eight times instead of only six or seven times.

Whew!  I'm glad you found the leak and nothing bad happened.  I'm just curious, do you have hard lines attached to the regulator that are attached to the back of the fan shroud?  In other words, what is your fuel system plumbing system like?

I started carrying a fire extinguisher in my '67 in the '80s because of stuff like this and have pretty much always had one in my DD... all though this reminds me that my current DD doesn't have one... I'll need to pick one up.

Glad you found it before it became a disaster. Your car is too nice to be a bonfire!

Hey Jeff68, Yes  my fuel system consist of, from the gas tank, a SS braided line with AN to pump, mounted on passenger side on pan. From there, yes a 3/8 hard line going to the back along the pan bolts and up to the lower fire wall to a bulkhead. From there is SS braided line to the pressure regulator, from there black AN lines to carbs. Got it all tighten up, also found the connection to the 1-2 carb just a tad lose, but not leaking. But now all is good and ready for Nicks & Bug-In 35!
