i just found a copy of an older VolksWorld mag ( july 2003) and on the cover and inside is a very very nice green 51 ragtop with wide 5 american racing wheels. it competed agains muffler mike in Vegas, but i don't know much more about it.

the colour is very nice and i wonder what it is or what the paintcode would be.

the car itself looks really nice (even with trim...) so i want to know more if there is more info about it.

the wheels are the one on bernie's dark lord oval , and the car was L11 pastel green or L213 iceland green
the car had brm before the american racing and she was featured in a early 2000 hot vws

That looks like Ken Jevec's old Car,  and even looks like the handsome guy behind the car.

I think the car was originaly owned by Mike Gagen from DKP some years ago.

I know Ken had Gagen's old red rag-top sedan, but I thought Gagen's split had been painted brown? I may be wrong, and Ken did indeed end up with both cars… Huh

His Zwit was Gagen, to Jevec, to Friel....it was Brown,.."UPS" Brown, then Garnet Red by Buddy before it was finished.

Not sure if Gagen owned the '51 before Ken or not

That green is a great looking color.

Is the Split in question the same car that was originally an Oval, then later had a Split rear window put in? Hence not a true Zwitter.

No, that one is all Split. I believe that is the Garnet Red car you're referring to.

If it's an original split colour then it must be L11 Pastel Green - there were no other greens in the range at that time. L213 Iceland Green was a 1954 colour. Not sure if it is, but it does look a lot like Pastel Green.

I was only commenting on the color of the green car, 'cause of the cool shade of green. Like I previously posted, the red car was originally an Oval then converted to a Split. Didn't think that there was any confusion... but sorry if there was/is.

Looks perfect Pat!
Fun to know it's being driven/raced.
Crisp in garnet, Buddy's paint looked great in red or brown.
The secret is out Fred know's it a late 53 not an early 53.  Wink
