but they only stepped up from a v6 to a v8 to be able to compete with the wonderful RS4  Roll Eyes

oh well, the new V8 is lighter and more powerful than the old 6 that's a win-win situation to me  Grin
I love the idea of a light alloy crankcase with cast iron bearing journals, if we could apply this to air-cooled VWs...hmmmmmmmmm
