FOR SALE: 9 SECOND STREET BEETLE, without engine
I put my ’65 for sale some time ago; the engine sold, as did some loose items, but the rest of the car is still with me. I was anticipating to store it in a distant location, buried in the farthest corner of a barn, but was lucky to find a place close to home, and easily accessible => hence the car is still available.

Here are the specs / a list of the stuff in the car as it is now: ’65 Bug with a sunroof from a ’58 road legal with lights, wipers, horn… NHRA legal to run 8.50sec with a valid chassis cert very nice registration papers (turbo, IC, ladder bars, roll-cage, 10.5” tires etc) and valid annual tech inspection for the Finnish buyer candidates fiberglass one piece front end, doors, rear fenders and deck lid professionally painted in early 2000s lexan windows, except windshield Gene Berg 40% shifter mild steel NHRA 8.50sec legal roll-cage with extra bars, professionally welded Simpson window net Hurst line-lock narrowed K&L beam (everything re-built and driven less than 300km since) back-half rear suspension - CrMo 32” ladder bars with over-sized Aurora joints - adjustable upper mounts - raised transmission Gene Berg wheelie bars CB wide-5 disc brakes and dropped spindles in front (everything 300km since new), wide-5 German 40mm drums in rear, Moroso CrMo press-in ˝” wheel studs Erco/CMS street-weight 0.190” bolted wheels: - 4.25”x15” front with 24” MH front runners (25 passes / 300km since new), - 10”x15” rears, no tires
A BRAND NEW Mendeola MD4-Drag transmission available for the buyer of the car, for additional 6500EUR: - 4.11 r&p, 3.11-1.81-1.26-1.0 gears, Liberty Pro-shift rings - BRAND NEW Karpiola narrowed axles
A big effort has been done to tune the suspension to make the car run ‘straight and safe’ from start to finish: on a prepped strip I did not lift on a single pass in the past years!!! Previously with the torsion bar suspension it would also wheelie violently, resulting in a lot of bad/aborted runs. Since the upgrade to ladder bars, the car ran regularly mid-1.3sec 60ft times, and mid-9s at close to 230km/h in the quarter. Best et with the 500hp engine in full street trim was 9.43sec/235km/h and out of all passes on a prepped strip during 2010-2011 the worst was 10.22sec/227km/h!
Plusses and minuses: + Street and race legal down to 8.50sec + The car has potential for 8s; thanks to the ladder-bars the car could handle way more than what I had - The one-piece-front in fiberglass is not popular these days – back in ‘92 it was cool
Asking 8250 EUR.
I am not forced to sell, so please no low ball offers.
ps. I would like to see the car run 8s so bad, that I will give 1000EUR refund when the new owner runs an 8 with it with aircooled VW engine and dot tires
