Hi,

did someone has some pictures of cal-look with rajay turbo?
I'm especially searching cal-look from "back in the days".
Were any know cars from 70's mounted with such a kit?
If so, any specs?

Jim Mayo had a period correct black looker with a Rajay kit.  I don't have any contact information- sorry.

I believe this is the same unit on the wall of the Buena Park Auto Haus Store.  It is just below the pulleys and I remember it being there forever.  It may have been the only one the company had and I don't ever remember it selling.

Looks like it blows in the bottom of the carb??   Huh

I can't figure out how it works from the pic.  

EDIT:  oh I see, it sucks from top of carb, out the bottom, through the turbo impeller, and down the rubber joint into the intake manifold. 

Wonder what the HP increase was with this?

If I recall, this car has the real BRM's, real Empi wood products (and gauges) throughout the interior, and pop outs (among other things)? If so, I was checking that one out closely at BOR several years back. Very cool! Cool

Sorry for running off topic, but Dave Galassi having a picture of Jim Mayo's car got me strolling down memory lane.  In 1987 I started collecting anything and everything EMPI/DDS/Early vw performance.  I have met a lot of great people along the way and consider many of them as good friends today.  Four people (Dave Galassi, Jim Mayo, Eric Lussier and Richard Roth) stand out as life long collectors in my mind.  I first purchased a empi gold/black metallic "C" stripe kit and empi globe badge from Dave Galassi at Type 3 Day in Garden Grove in 1987.  I purchased a Eliminator shifter handle from Jim Mayo in 1988.  I started to hear about this mythical collector from Ohio in 1989 from Eric Lussier.  Eric liked to always pull my chain telling me this guy named Richard had a bigger collection.  In 1997 I got a chance to meet Richard and we acted like 12 year old girls telling empi stories on a 48 hour road trip to Carolina via Chicago/Ohio in my company van one weekend to attend a VW event (PPPRRROO GAS).  I have sold most of my collection over the years (marriage, kids, down payment for house and drag racing draining the collection).  Parts are parts- some of the stories of how we got the parts and the friendships developed along the way are still shinny today.

Looking back I don't know if the unit was good or bad.  I think the two things that kept buyers away was the price, seems to me it was in the $400 range which was HUGE $$ back then.  The other was most were into a "cleaner"look weather it be a single Zenith or Holley Bug Spray and then moving up the ranks with dual Webers and even the 40P11 Solex set up. 

There was just to much plumbing to deal with on the Turbo kit.  We carried manifolds to run a single 48 IDA but don't recall ever selling one.  This was prior to the Kadron era.
