Hi all!

I have been restoring my 57 for the last four years and have nearly completed the bodywork.

Starting to think about mechanicals!!

I want to fit a later box, whats the best way to fit a late box onto an early chasiis?

Will the short axles out of my split case fit into a later box??

dont want to go too crazy with the engine, so thinking a GT box or something similar to get me started.  Dont want the late long axles as i ant the wheels to be correct in the wings.

anyone help?

Thanks

Hey Stu,
I think you need a ‘60-‘67 bus nosecone. They are available new and they position the shift rod in the correct location.
Adapter mounts are available also, but with those, you will not have the rubber to insulate the noise.

As for axles, they are short up through 1966.

BTW, love to see pics of your project!

The split case axles will fit a later box, not as strong as normal short axles though...
