New cam in my 2332cc for this seson
«

Hello !
For 3 years i have run W125 cam with 1.3:1 rockers on my 2332cc engine, I have CB 044 CNC wedgeport 44x37 valves, IDA 48 with 42mm venturis. Welded and ported big beef intakes.
It puts our 185hp and 235nm, Top Hp at 6200rpm and torqu at 4500rpm, This was with fanbelt and muffler.
Now i have bought cb 1.4:1 rockers.
Can you give me some advice on new cam shaft, need more power
I have a FK87 and a FK89 in the garage, I´m not affraid to chose another one then those two
What is your recomendation ?

My immediate same thought. He will help you in the way that you will not regret it.
Now be honest with yourself in what you really want and how you will use your car.
He will do the rest in selection.

We just listed two new cam grinds on our website at CB. Both of these cams would work well with your 1.3 ratio rockers. Your 1.4 rockers will produce too much lift for a street car. The grinds are #2290 and #2291. 275@.050/310 advertised duration .435 lift at cam The second grind is 278@.050/320 advertised duration .450 lift @cam. The 275@.050/.435 lift cam would be a really good choice. You could run 1.4 rockers with this cam but make sure your valve train can handle it. Both of these grinds make BIG power.

Fk87 and 1.4:1 rockers will go very well with your combo. I built a motor for Gyles, very similar to your spec, but with an Fk87 and it ran 208 hp and 12.4 seconds on street tyres in a very heavy late model Bug. Totally drivable on the street
. Even with the big venturis. Gyles also has 44mm vents
Will cruise in top at just over 2,000 rpm, and still pull well.

I See
I have something to think about now, Can enyone tell me if i have to make clearance for the valves ?
Today i set piston/cylinder @ 0 . no deck height. 0,040 (1MM) copper rings and 51cc camber in the heads.
All these 4 cams are quite similar around +-275 @ .050 lift,
I would like to use my new 1.4:1 CB rockers insted of my old chinese 1.3:1 rockers, those rockers did need alot of ours of work
to just work..... the adjustment screws did not let the oil pass .. crap. They work now but i dont like them !
I have two cams on my bench .. and maybee there will be CB 2289 (Fk87).

You might be okay with valve clearance. I ran the CB 044 Ultra Mag Plus with a flycut and very low DH (0.025 mm) plus 1 mm copper head gaskets. Still had 2.5-3.0 mm valve clearance when the pistons were clayed. I would check just in case.
FWIW, I loved the Web 86C cam and 1.4's in my 2332 cc street Beetle...180 HP to the wheels. Ran a best of 12.8 seconds in the 1/4-mile and still very smooth driving around town. I'm trying a Raptor cam from Johannes next, but haven't gotten any races in yet, as it keeps snowing here

I run our #2300 cam with 1.4 rockers in my street car with 11-1 compression, .630 lift and no valve reliefs in the pistons. Duration and lobe center have a big influence on piston to valve clearance. Stay at or under 275@.050 duration and you will be fine.

I believe that since i have them in a customers engine , also that you ran an 11,9 with your street car . That is an amazing cam. Remember that engle and web cam are very old cams .....

True Udo, My street car will run 11.70's if I ever get enough courage to drop the tire pressure so it will hook at the track. Car is not light either, it weighs 1930lbs.

Thanx for you advices, And Thank you Pat for your E-mail. CB´s 2300 is realy interesting but i don´t have the time to get the parts from Farmersville right now .
CB 2300 vs CB 2289 ,
2300 Duration 317° / Dur. @ .050'' 273° Lift w/1.4:1 .602''
2289 Duration 322° / Dur. @ .050" 274° Lift w/1.4:1 .557"
I´ll think i take the 2389 cam , little bit lower lift, Duration almost the same.
And i have that cam on the working bench.

Magnus, If you order and ask for DHL, TNT, FedEx, UPS or whatever CB works with, you do not pay that much extra and you have it in your home within 4 days.
