This is a very sad day for American racing.  I just saw that Carol Shelby passed away at the age of 89.  He did pretty well for a guy who had a heart transplant and lived many more years than expected.  Still love the Cobra to this day, at least racing versions used IDAs...!

Very Sad indeed.

I have the pleasure of meeting him several times. The first time when I was working for Chryslers Marketing Co. in the mid 80s. I got to take a bunch of dealers through Shelby Performance Center in Santa Fe Springs. He was doing the Omni GLHS and the Shelby Chargers at the time. They had a Solo II course set up with a pair of Omni GLHS for us to thrash on. Saw some interesting test mules they were working on including the first Dodge Caravan fitted with a V6 and a 4 wheel drive Shelby Charger with 2 complete drive trains.

Rest in peace, Carroll and thanks for all of your contributions to the autos that we've come to enjoy.

I thought this deserved to be here.
A great way for Carroll to be remembered.

That's great, I haven't listened to that in a long time.  I actually have the album buried someplace in my collection of vinyl.
