where can you buy buggy bars from?

i saw one for sale, that bolts onto your beam? but would that fit onto a beetle?

Hey Buddy - there are a few types of buggy bar out there - Most of them are pretty crap  although the rear one I have on my Manx should work on a bug as it mounts to the frame horns - Try giving Mark Dryden of Flatlands Engineering a call and tell him Lee sent you

As for the front one - I had mine especially made by a friend so it would be the right width and have the correct bends as most "off the shelf" items dont look right, With some small modification i reakon you should be able to mount it on a bug

Hi Tom The Buggy Bumper you are talking about that bolts to the beam is For a Buggy Only You have to use two Rear Buggy Bumpers on a bug you have to cut the ends off to fit and you have to weld straps on to them and they mount to the inner fender wells the rear is a little harder to mount you have to heat it and bend it so it fits between the muffler and the fender They also Bent them  so it would sit closer to the rear of the car see first picture if you dont  bend it  to sit closer to the car it looks funny it sticks out to far,  most bug shops sell them

what year is your car? in the rear you can run strap steel from the Stock bumper mount bracket  if you have a 68 and later  you can also do the same in the front but if your car is early  you will have to drill and bolts the straps to the inner fender wells you can not use the stock holes in the body to mount them they mount from underneath the apron's

Here's my '72 back in '80. I cut and drilled flat stock (using nuts/bolts for the front holes and straps for the holes).....

That picture was taken right after the car was back together after painting. I hadn't rolled the car enough, yet, to de-chamber out the wheels. Shortly after that shot the mirrors were color matched and running boards replaced.

Hi Tom on a 70 the mounts are in the wheel well so you just need to make the straps to bolt up the have them welded to the buggy bumper you still have to bend the rear bumper to get it between the muffler and the fender

My understanding is that EMPI still sells them..Sometimes, though, you order things and they will say "out of stock" or "discontinued". Try it....Couldn't hurt.
