did they thought about closing it ? And for what do they need a sound wall - there is an oval track that is noisy too ...

IN A NUTSHELL -- -- To build the raceway, the developer submitted a Environmental impact report (EIR) (500+pages, if I remember)-- this basically states what the uses for the site and their impact on the environment --- traffic, noise, etc.,etc., -- the idea of the drag strip wasn't specifically mentioned this report, even though motor racing was, and that was kink some neighbors used to get into the courts -- -- the biggest complaints was when they moved the drag strip from the south side of the complex to the North side, so the noise level was higher blah blah ---- The group that was challenging this used the title of 'concerned citizens' from a local school.... none of the members of the group had any kids attending this elementary school -- -- so a sound wall was proposed to eliminate any issues and finally accepted by the court as a solution.
