I'm looking to get a Berg Shifter for the '58 (RHD). The 6710R seems the correct one which would keep the handle in the stock position. However, it is currently a long reach for me when the transmission is in 1st gear. Would the shorter throw help with this, or have others gone for the extra bend version (if I can get one in RHD)?
Thanks Richard

The 12" bent works best for me. Late cars had a straight shifter, but early ones need a bent shifter for comfort. Remember they do make handles for right had drive.

The 6710 has a bend but there is a version with an extra bend (EB)...do you know which you have? Thanks

i have the 6710R. i personally prefer the 6714 or 6710 EB as i have short arms and prefer shifter closer to me.

I have a 6710 in my '66 and it works well for me. I am not a large guy (only 5ft. 9 in.).

Has anyone checked lately to find out the availability of GB shifters from Berg?

I changed from the 6710 to the 6710EB a couple of years ago, easier to operate when I´m strapped in. For street use, I´d go for the 6710. Car is a ´58.

I'm 5`10 and always feel like I have to reach forward to change gear. My next shifter will be the 14 " version. In a 67 T1

I tried to get a locking rhd shifter from berg a while ago and they said they were out of stock and it would be up to six weeks before they have more. Six weeks went past so I emailed twice and haven't even had a reply. That's not good service. Since bought a lhd one on evil bay so now need a rhd t handle.

I ordered the 6710-14R with a finger grip handle (40% reduction in throw). However I don't collect it until January; I just wanted to be organised!

I had the same runaround recently when trying to get a 26mm oil pump from Bergs. Finally found one at Pierside (and they said it was their last one).

Al, at Bergs, couldn't have been more helpful. He responded very quickly to my many emails (almost instantly on a couple of occasions) and altered existing work to get a RHD grip handle made for me. Excellent service.
