I've always wondered if there was a sequence.
According to generic tables, M8 grade 8.8 bolts are around 24NM, M10's around 47NM.
I'm sure you (Frenchy) are aware of the importance of the rubber spacers under the beam and rear torsions. If these are too thick, which many aftermarket versions are, the body can end up severely distorted after everything is tightened down. Years ago, I did body/paint on a show quality 57 Oval. The customer picked up the painted shell and took it home to mate up to the restored pan. Later, the distressed owner called me and suggested I had 'bent' the body shell. Once I saw the car, and the drivers door hanging 1" below the opening I checked the rubbers under the rear seat and beam top. It had the 5/8" thick versions, which don't fit anything VW I've seen. He had tightened the bolts along the pan sides with an impact.
Hope this helps.
