Whats one skill or ability you would like to develop or improve where working on or building cars are concerned?

For me it would be metal working. Metal shaping and welding being the two main areas. I plan to buy a welder, still trying to decide mig or steppin up to a tig, later this year. (Used to have a mig but someone stole it a few years ago.) I have also been eyeing an English Wheel that Harbor Freight has. It is a skill that has always fascinated me. If you have ever seen this guy's work, it is amazing.

To be able to start off with a flat sheet of metal and end up with something that can go on a car just blows my mind. Doubt I will ever be able to do what this guy has done, but it would be nice to be able to craft simple parts. I have bought several of the books by Ron Fournier and even picked up some hammers, mallets and a shot bag. But that is about as far as I have gotten. This spring I finally will finish grad school and will hopefully have more time to  maybe give some of this stuff a try. I would actually like to be able to do most of the metal work on my '67.

What areas of cars do you have an interest in getting better at, be it a new skill or maybe mastering an older skill?

do you know how to become a millionare doing fab work? start with two million. na... its a fun trade, but you spend your life getting pretty good then you die. I went by old employer yesturday-dan gurneys,the head fabricator Phil remington just turned 87 and will steal out work most people. so what i quess Im tryin to say,keep tryin. and to get started also by bench mounted hand shrinker streather. there is a good web site called metal meet.com,lots of enteresting project,stuff

Thanks, I will check it out. I don't think I would want to do it for a living. Just a skill I have always wanted to try.
